I found the “big picture”. I only wish the artist was named….
Swirly whorly winter lushness.
That’s right, I used the words “winter” and “lush” in the same sentence. It’s all a matter of perspective….. 2 years ago

I have been looking for a Spirograph kit for a while, but the originals on EBay are expensive, and don’t always contain everything in the original kit. So these will do to get me spiraling, yes they will do quite nicely, in fact. 2 years ago

A heart in whorly glory. My heart, in whorly glory. Spiraling outward. 3 years ago
I wish I knew what these were….there is no description by the artist. They almost look like sonograms of a fetus inutero….I find them at once slightly disturbing and beautiful in an ethereal, otherworldly way…..but then the womb is another world is it not? Anyway, they’re seriously “whorly” and I like them, whatever they are. What do you see? What do you think they are photographs of?

I love it’s “whorliness” and I love it for what it is, and was….. 3 years ago
I am having a lazy Sunday. I have been overdue for a “do-nothing-much” kind of day. I have cleared my schedule and am trying to clear my head. Thoughts wander in and out of my mind, some linger and germinate, others pass thru like clouds…..clouds…it’s a great day here on the east coast at the mo’, but the clouds are looming greyer. No matter it’s officially spring now, it’s supposed to rain; rain will coax the daffodils and crocuses from the cold ground. I am thinking gardening thoughts (they’re some of the thoughts that are lingering and germinating inside my head today) as I slowly drip the cream into my coffee in frothy spirals….....whorly coffee….....my 3rd of the day…oops….I forgot, I am cutting back…..my bad. As it turns out there is a whole art form devoted to such coffee doodling, referred to as “latte art”. Who knew? I never see baristas do this in coffee shops or cafes, but then I currently live in East Podunk USA (do like much about it tho’, it’s gorgeous and an outdoor person’s dream), where you can buy a bottle of Bud down the road or go toke up with the neighbors if you’re into that, but the nearest cafes or coffee shops are several towns over….where I am MOVING soon! Maybe I can find latte artists. Maybe I will be a cafe’s equivalent of Norm, from Cheers; when I walk in, I’ll have my own stool, and everybody will know my name and say “BEE!!!!” when I come in…......and the barista will know to make my latte with whorls, thank you veddy much. And they will have high speed wireless hookup. Amen. 4 years ago

SOME meanings assigned to spirals (I gathered all of this material from a variety of sources just by Googling…)
Balance, Progress, Direction, Initiation, Centering, Expanding, Connection, Journeying, Development
Rebirth and regeneration. fecundity; (Ancient symbol of the goddess in many cultures.)
Solar & lunar, masculine & feminine energies.
Evolution and continual change; journeys both within and without.
Holistic growth
Letting go, surrender, release
Awareness of the one within the context of the whole
Connectivity and union with deific and cosmic energies
Revolutions of time, stars, planets and the way of natural progress
“In terms of some aspects of spirituality, the spiral symbol can represent the path leading from outer consciousness (materialism, external awareness, ego, outward perception) to the inner soul (enlightenment, unseen essence, nirvana, cosmic awareness). Movements between the inner (intuitive, intangible) world and the outer (matter, manifested) world are mapped by the spiraling of archetypal rings; marking the evolution of humankind on both an individual and collective scale. Moreover, in terms of rebirth or growth, the spiral symbol can represent the consciousness of nature beginning from the core or center and thus expanding outwardly. This is the way of all things, as recognized by most mystics.
Gaining more expansive awareness of the spiral meaning, we can contemplate its appearance in the natural world. Consider: vines, snails, seashells, tornados, snakes (curled up), twisting tree trunks, whirlpools, animal horns, galaxies et al. Take a few moments to contemplate these spiraling aspects of nature and their implications on your own perspective. Better yet, look out to Mother Nature and find your own special spirals.
Create your own:
Paint your own spirals. Draw spirals. Make spiral symbol mosaics. Use any media that appeals to you to create spirals, and as you do, imagine the controls of your mind loosening with each outward wave created as you move out in a spiral motion of your creation. This exercise is similar to coloring mandalas. The idea is to get lost in the grandeur of creating. The mandala or spiral symbol is a partner in creation and can launch our dreaming mind into profound realms of awareness. You can get your whole body into the spiraling creative process. Walk a spiralling labyrinth as a conscious ritual for growth, just like some of our Native American forebears did (and still do). Dance in spinning spirals, just like the Whirling Dervishes do (whose dance is symbolic of the cosmic dance of the universe). Find ways to express the spiral meaning with your whole being, the results should prove profound.” 4 years ago
