101 places not to visit 7 months ago

I was most happy to find this book in the local library, as it was on my list of books with lists to read.
The book is a lot like the Molvania http://tropikiwi.typepad.com/great_adventures_of_a_gre/2007/09/molvania.html book. Only real difference is that this book lists real places while Molvania is just completely invented by some humorous ingenious demented minds.
It was just easy amusing reading not to be taken at all seriously.
My former city of residence in NZ didn’t even get a mention. I am sure that John Cleese will be very upset at the city’s snub as he has declared it to be the suicide capital. A fact I now must tell everyone whenever they ask where I am from.
The book failed to diminish any of my desire to see the world so I do of course plan to go to many of the places listed.
There was a travel expo here and I went and got me a whole armful of brochures for European tours.
I was thinking of starting my European experience with an escapade doing one of those cheap camping trips where you see like 20 countries in 7 weeks.
I was thinking that if I did that first then I could see where I like and go back.
Plus if I couldn’t find a job and ran out of money at least I would have seen Europe. Europe as we sped by on a bus, but it still counts!
I have been told that the Contiki tours are fun and not really naff. Although one guy who I mentioned it to was like oh no you lose your virginity on those trips and told me how he didn’t want to lose his. I was most amused and pointed out that I didn’t think anyone was gonna hold him down and take it. He does have free choice! Ah Christians, so afraid of corruption…
But anyway these tours only run in the summer (it is camping after all) and my plan is to go in October. So I would either have to change the plan or wait in London until the next summer to go.

Behold the marvellous list I have compiled. A spectacular catalogue of books that guide you on things to do and places to go.
-100 things to do before you die, travel events you just can’t miss by Neil Teplica
-101 places not to visit by Adam Russ
-1001 Natural Wonders: You Must See Before You Die by Michael Bright
-2001 things to do before you die by Dane Sherwood
-2DO Before I Die: The Do-It-Yourself Guide to the Rest of Your Life by Michael Ogden
-30 Things Everyone Should Know How to Do Before Turning 30 by Siobhan Adcock
-50 Things to Do with the Rest of Your Life by Robert P. Wilkins
-No opportunity wasted: creating a life list by Phil Keoghan
-Stroke A Martian And 99 Other Things To Do Before You Die: Plus 5 To Do Afterwards by New Scientist Magazine
-Swim Naked, Defy Gravity and 99 Other Essential Things to Accomplish Before Turning 30 by Colleen Rush
-The lonely planet blue list by Simone Egger & Simon Sellars
-Ten Fun Things to Do Before You Die by Karol Jackowski
-The Daring Female’s Guide to Ecstatic Living: 30 Dares for a More Gutsy and Fulfilling Life by Natasha Kogan
-The travel book by Roz Hopkins
-the Traveler’s Atlas by J. Man, C. Schuler, G. Roy
-Unforgettable journeys to take before you die by Steve Watkins
-Unforgettable places to see before you die by Steve Davey and Marc Schlossman
-Unforgettable things to do before you die by Steve Watkins and Clare Jones

I am not sure about getting them all as it would be rather an arduous process to get through all of the items in all of the lists!
Maybe it is enough to just stick to the books I have.
After all once I have visited 1000 places to see before you die and filled in the matching journal. Then done 101 things to do before you die I may feel I have done enough for this lifetime. Perhaps concentrating on what I have already is the way to go, I could create categories to track my progress with each book.
