keep a spending diary 2006

...but I don’t have the discipline and tenacity for this.
Now that I have trained the lunch ladies so they know that I want a receipt, I don’t want it anymore because it reminds me of the fact that I should be writing everything down.
I appreciate everyone’s cheers for this goal, and and apologize for letting you down, but frankly, I can’t be arsed anymore. ‘xcuse my French.

In my new job, in the first weeks, I didn’t have too much to do, so my mind was not so preoccupied. Now I have given up writing down every cent I spend (which I did in January), and only take a receipt from the lunch lady every day. I don’t know if this counts, but I doubt I will be able to call this a diary when I am not taking note every day. It just won’t be accurate and the data therefore useless. Dang.

... and now it seems I am already caving in.
The problem is cash. If I take out some cash, I can see it clearly on my bank statement, but then I really need to write down bit by bit what I’m spending it on. Then, my bf and I go often “Do have some cash?”, and give the other coins or a tenner and – whoops – there go my stats. Drat. At least I can see what we are spending on everything else, because nearly everything in Holland is paid for by PIN these days. I hardly ever need cash at all. Strange why this shouldn’t work, then, but as new years resolutions go, this one is already pretty old… But I didn’t think I’d dump it in FEB, already!
Not giving up just yet.

my new year’s resolution is to write down every penny I spend, and on what, so I can finally see where all the money is going, what’s a good “investment” and where I should cut down.
According to some obscure source (“I heard it at the beginning of the year”), people quit with their goals for the new year around the 23rd of JAN. Well, I made it past that crucial date, still able to tell you where and what for I gave away (?) my hard earned cash. I’ll update next month around the same time.

I have managed to write down every penny I have spent this year. So far!!! I heard people drop their New Year’s resolutions around the 23rd of January. That’s next week, so I’ll update then.
