hhannahi hope this does include a little spoiling once in awhile

because it happened. Although I border on the spoiling part. I bought the tickets to take them away for March break somewhere tropical…volleyball, beach, snorkelling, diving, swimming in the ocean, sun, fun. All at triple the price…because its March break! What caused me to do this?...I thought of all the mornings i leave the house before they even wake up so I can get to work…then they wait for me to get home. I cannot always be close by but this job as it takes so much away in time…its going to have to pay up to give me quality moments with them before they grow all up and leave. I feel blessed in so many ways….and equally for making this decision. 2 months ago

hhannahwhat is it with x-box?

my son 11 years had been throught the WII phase, the PS2 phase, the guitar hero and rock bank phases as well as roadblocks and we have never had too much trouble. Except with x-box he is completely addicted not sure if its the system or the games I wonder if its a phase but worry he is going to get too far into it. This week I had to put an end to it. No more on any weekdays except for the weekends. So far so good, then I notices he was always on the ipod…arrgggh!!! so I also took this away for weekdays…enjoy this on weekends only. He has so much talent with baseball his passion (besides the x-box.. bad joke) he wasnt being prepared or grasping coaches directions. So I had to end it…he wasnt happy but he did accept this and with 5 hours or more of training a week he needs to be focused. He doesnt know what to do with himself at home so I have been making myself available to play cards or games and today we went to the bookstore and he picked out some books for more reading time. I dont want him to not be able to play just I need to make sure Im the responsible parent and not let x-box rule his world or be his entertainment. 3 months ago

hhannahspent the day on ski hill with my son

it was our first time out this year but got to the more challenging hills by the afternoon. First hour was horrible…he was cranky, I was cranky too because he was wining about not being a superstar first times down. Afterwards he got it and we enjoyed a nice day together about 15 runs in today. Had a nice lunch we packed and he has been so hyper when he got home from excitment. THis was a beautiful day – and we will go again during the next weeks for night skiing. Taking him snowboarding is something that I get to do with him just the two of us, hope he remembers these times. I will. 4 months ago

hhannahA big part of raising my children well Ive learned

is supporting my ex-husband. No not financially but supporting him when its his week and that the kids should be with him, and not interfering so he can have the room to grow into a good single father. THat when the kids are playing both sides sometimes I have to show them I am still united with him when it comes to discapline and respect. I hope they understand this someday that Its for them to be good, kind, responsible, constructive and well raised children. 5 months ago

hhannahSpending time with my daughter today

not supposed to be my day but I dont care. When I can carve out time with her alone its so good. Today I watched her play hockey she scored 2nd goal of game and her team won. Then we went our shopping, luckily i was able to do it just her and I today…so nice she is funny beautiful, smart and my favorite person to be with. Like hanging out with me when I was young..but we have such a good open relationship its easier than I had with my mom. I am so happy…today and thankful for this time. 5 months ago

hhannahIt was bring your Kid to Work day today

I was sooo proud, every year I presented at this event and now today was my day to bring in my daughter. Everyone loved her, every one said how she looked like me…i must say It makes you feel so good, and she was happy to be there. For the morning she learned about the company, then I took her out for lunch with my girlfriends for sushi, then she got taken out for starbucks by others in the office while i was in a meeting. She didnt love the Insurance Industry – as she has other aspirations but it was a great proud day for me as she was so gracious and mature there. I love my girl! And now I can look forward to this in another few years with the boy! 6 months ago

StephenCollege Man

My son just finished his first week of college despite lightning storms and hail. The journey I spent with him was really great and I do miss him, but I am brimming with happiness too at his new life and challenges. 9 months ago

I only have 2 sons and my youngest just had his picture taken for his graduation next year. It is just another reminder that my children will have both finished high school by this time next year. The end of this goal is really in sight now even through in my mind it is hard to imagine. 10 months ago

hhannah weekend at the cottage kids, mom and dad, my sister

and brother-in-law. The kids have grown up so much from last year. No tantrums, less fighting. So for my son this past semester he brought up his grades from a C to all B’s and A’s while moving, going through the divorce. We swam, went tubing, water skiing, archery, shooting. Watching movies…and over all the best is that there was no fighting. My Dad was there and brother in law who are great role models, as well as my sister for my daughter. GOOD WILSON MORALS AND BONDING!!!! 10 months ago

StephenMaturity

My son Cory has finished all the paperwork required by the University and has his scholarship, financial aid, dorm room & roommate all worked out. But there is one problem. His mother is against him going out of state and wants him to stay local even with the budget problems all public in-state colleges are having. She has made statements like “I do not hate my son that I would send him so far away by himself”.

But rather than have me argue with her, Cory said he will handle the issue since he has made his decision already and will work things out with her. This as well as many other situations has demonstrated his maturity as he reaches adulthood and independence. 12 months ago

hhannahIts been a good week for the 10 year old. He made the select

baseball team and when the coach came to shake his hand and deliver this news the look on his face was beaming with excitement. This will be a fun summer for him playing on 2 teams with a bunch of boys his same age. Before he played in a smaller league where they only had one team to play against and it was made up of alot of younger kids so the older ones werent aloud to hit too hard. He also received three awards at school, one for mutual respect (something he was struggling with) one for leadership and another for participation. When I saw the picture of his cute face smiling so big!!! it was one of the best feelings and it also felt like just when you think you are sucking as a parent then something like this happens to restore some faith! 13 months ago

hhannahsince the move to my new home, the kids and I are now

4 days in and doing well. I noticed that my youngest is seeming happier and referring to it as his new home, he has met some other boys and playing road hockey with them, my daughter is close to her friends and happier. I feel healthier and happier as this was a move in the right direction. Less fighting for them to have to be exposed and moving from the country means being able to hang with friends easily. I just want to see them succeed as well roun ded, grounded individuals who have a good sence of themselves, family, respect and morales. 13 months ago

hhannahI just feel so much love for them.

My little boy always wanting to see him be happy – as Parents we would do anything, sometimes against out better judgement because we really believe and have faith in our children’s intentions. Sometimes he’s mischeivious as boys are and boisterous and crazy. I discipline, and the dissapointment always fades as fast as his getting into trouble and I tend to let him get away with what ever it was. Yes he has to go to bed early, he loses dessert and video games, tv…etc. Personally Im so scared of the day he will be grown up and I wont see him as much. I truly want to raise a great young man. 14 months ago

StephenNew Mexico Tech

My son Cory and I attended the Research @ Tech day on Monday. The day was entertaining as the welcome speech was all about Tech’s specialty in Explosive Engineering. Discovery channel Mythbusters have destroyed several cars and other vehicles there in several episodes which were all shown during the orientation.

But we toured all the residence halls, had lunch in the cafeteria and got personal tours of the chemistry and mathematics departments. Tech is the smallest of all the Universities we visited and it seemed like everyone knew everyone else. I’m glad Cory has been accepted here, but he has still not decided which school he will be attending yet. 15 months ago

StephenArizona State University

Spending the weekend with Cory to check out 2 out of state Universities where he has been already accepted. ASU really had a good tour of their West campus and we spent about 2 hours seeing all the buildings, listening to student representatives talk about all the benefits of going to ASU and a look at the on-campus housing options. Spending the rest of the weekend touring places like Montezuma’s Castle and Meteor Crater. 15 months ago

StephenCheck-ups

My boys both had their annual Doctor checkups yesterday and the news is all good. No major health problems and we only need to get some blood work done to finish the process, but there isn’t any problems to worry about. They did both get a vaccine booster shot as well so I know that they are all up to date. 15 months ago

StephenCongratulations, you have been accepted!

My older son had applied to Arizona State University and New Mexico Tech and I found out today that he has been accepted into both Universities. My Ex doesn’t like the idea of him going out of state, but the cost of the schools is about the same as going in-state here without all the funding cuts that the California public schools are having to deal with. We will be touring both campuses in February and I will see if he likes it enough that he will commit to go to one of these schools. We will have to see what funding options he will have too as the FAFSA forms get processed. I don’t know if I am more excited than he is…probobly so…lol 16 months ago

hhannahSince having the vacation with my daughter I feel so much

closer to her. We have not been able to spend as much time as I would have liked due to her sports schedule, so our trip to Finland and Sweden was so important. I didnt realize it at first but can feel the difference in our relationship since. 16 months ago

StephenAchievement

Both my sons have been working very hard at school and my oldest just got a perfect score on his English essay. The teacher liked it so much that she asked for a copy so that she could use it as a example of how to write an essay. My son was cocky about the grade, but also very happy. 18 months ago

My oldest son had his senior pictures taken this weekend and it’s pretty hard to believe. The prices they charge for senior pictures is pretty hard to believe too!!! 22 months ago

StephenEnd of the School Year

Misleading title, but the official school year is over and now summer school/college classes begin with not even a week off in between. At least the summer school classes are only 4 hours instead of 7 hours four days a week. And my youngest just got his braces off…Hooray!!! 23 months ago
