I would love to own a Smart Car. I did look at the website. I am afraid with the credit crunch I won’t be approved. But I do miss having a car and being independent, so I will look at my credit report and ask a friend who is into financial planning for his advice.
This is my first entry in 43 things. This is an incredibly easy goal for me since I already picked out the car i want and i’m just waiting for it to get fixed so i can buy it! It’s used and is relatively cheap. I’m buying it from a small dealership and they were supposed to fix it over a month ago and still haven’t! But it’s OK the guy is trustworthy and my uncle has bought 2 cars so far through him. He’s apparently having problems with his mechanic.
Well I can;t wait to own this car! Will give independence which I have missed for a while now—almost a year!

i am just waiting to get my hands on this beast.
It’s just so expensive and I can’t afford it while still at university.
But if I have one, I want to do a really long road trip, and travel through whole Europe :-)

I can’t drive, and don’t forsee me learning during the uni years (which will continue for at least 3 more years, if not 4 or 5 – or more if I decide to do a PhD!), but that’s no reason not to plan to get a car in the future.
Part of me really doesn’t want to own a car. They take up so much money and give out so much pollution. And if I stay in Edinburgh, or another city, public transport will usually beat a car in my mind, for time and for saving on parking fees etc. But if I move back to Shetland, unless I stay in Lerwick, I will need to have a car. There’s not really any question about it. Public transport just won’t cut it unless I have someone to rely on to give me lifts from the bus to my house during winter. And if I’m working something outside 9-5, or having to travel around the place doing music therapy, carrying instruments, buses just aren’t going to cut it.
Also, 1 child on a bus is managable, but the amount of parents I’ve seen on buses with 2 or more children, struggling with pushchairs, or not being able to keep them sitting still, is enough to make definite in my mind that a car is a neccessity when I have children, whether that be in Edinburgh or Shetland or anywhere else. So, yes, one day I probably will own a car, but we’ll see how long I put it off for!
