How I did it: I used to never drink water. I was stubborn and almost wanted to prove how much I didn't drink. But now I've grown to love my 20 oz reusable water bottle and have made a schedule for myself when to refill. For me I have a full bottle of water for work at 7 am, refill it at about 10 am, 1 pm and 4 pm. Yes, you will have more bathroom breaks, but it's good to stretch and get away from your desk anyway! I keep a 22 oz mug at work that I constantly fill throughout the day. I end up going through about 5 fill-ups by the time quitting time rolls around, which comes out to 110 oz of water or 13.75 equivalent glasses.
This is in addition to a couple of glasses at dinner in the evenings. 13 months ago
How I did it: The most difficult part about drinking water for me was the taste... or rather, the lack thereof. Water tastes like nothing, and because of that, drinking it was unpleasant to me. Trying to cut soda out of my diet, I tried making "spritzers" by mixing cranberry juice with club soda, mineral water, or seltzer. Then I discovered that I like the taste of fizzy water on its own. I switched to seltzer because it doesn't have added sodium like club soda, and I love it!
I did some research on carbonated water, to check how healthy it is to drink so much, and to my surprise, it's perfectly fine to drink seltzer in place of still water (unless you have problems with gassiness). Seltzer is simply water infused with CO2, and you still get all of the benefits of drinking water, with a delightful fizzy taste to boot! So, while I struggle to drink any significant amount of still water, I can chug down bottles and bottles of seltzer with no problem! I've been able to completely kick a serious diet coke addiction, and I'm finally able to get my 8 glasses a day! Hope this helps someone! Read how I did it… 15 months ago

I have a co-worker who’s obsessed with me needing to drink more water. So, every ever ten minutes or so, she yells “Water”, as a reminder for me to take my 5 gulps per drinking session. It helps. 2 years ago
