the bee it's a brand-new day
I just have always liked the look of a cowbay – the hat, the tight jeans, boots, big belt-buckle.
How I did it: I am a city girl. Well, sorta. I live in Oklahoma City and am pretty well educated (in school to be an architect). I still love being outside in nice weather though, and my dogs are about the size of small horses! :)
Last year I was visiting my uncle in Austin TX. and he decided to show me "how Texans have fun". I am 20 and I had never been in a bar before. We went out three night in a row to various bars and dance halls.
At an Austin dance hall called the Broken Spoke, I met my cowboy. I've never felt more alive than when He held me on the dance floor. He asked for my number that night, and he is the first man I've ever given my number to.
I came back home, but he kept calling me every once in a while for over a year! Now I'm flying down there to spend a week with him. He will come up here over spring break. This summer we will both move to Stillwater to go to school.
He is a REAL cowboy. He works as a ranch hand and builds fences, volunteers at the country fire station and breaks horses and raises goats in his spare time.
I've now had country songs written and sung in my honor. Ooh, and cowboys sure know how to "sweet talk" their girl :)
Lessons & tips: Cowboys do NOT fall in love easily. Most are love 'em and leave 'em types. Mine tells me that they all believe an old saying: "There is only ever one girl that can hold a cowboy's heart." If you are not that "one" then nothing you can do will keep him around when he's ready to move on.
If you are the "one" then nothing you can do will make him go away! Before I decided to persue a relationship with him, I even tried telling him I had a boyfriend to get him to stop calling. It didn't work! Now I'm glad :)
Cowboys LOVE their mamas. Never say anything rude to or about her or he will hold it against you forever. At least, this is what I've heard.
