I’ve now seen all of his “real” movies. The remaining three are movies directed by his father that he had minor roles in so I’m not feeling the push to watch them. The last two aren’t even on DVD yet. I’ll get around to them eventually, but in the meantime, I look forward to his next release.

This was a little animated short that Jake narrated. It was just okay and done in that style of animation that isn’t much more than showing a page from a book with the tiniest bit of movement added in. The story was mildly interesting, but this is definitely only a must if you’re working your way through the J.G. list or have young kids who might be interested.

I had my hopes set real low for this one, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I can’t say it was a good movie, but it was cute and silly and made me laugh more than a few times.

Rendition – October 12
When Egyptian born terrorism suspect, Anwar El-Ibrahimi (Omar Metwalley) disappears on a flight from South Africa to Washington DC, his American wife, Isabella (Reese Witherspoon) travels to Washington to try and learn the reason for his disappearance. Meanwhile, at a secret detention facility somewhere outside the US, CIA analyst Douglas Freeman (Jake Gyllenhaal) is forced to question his assignment in an attempt to save thousands as he becomes a party to the unorthodox interrogation of El-Ibrahim…
put it on your calendars. =)
The only films I haven’t seen yet (where Jakey has a significant role) are Zodiac (not released yet in the UK) and Lovely and Amazing.
I’ll be first in line thought when Zodiac is released!

This movie was so not good. If it hadn’t been for Jake and my goal to watch all of his movies, I would have turned it off after half an hour. I toughed it out though, and we actually got quite a laugh out of it. It trys to come across as very cutting edge and in your face, but everything just seems silly and disjointed. And annoying. The highlight was seeing Dr. Cox from Scrubs pop up in dreadlocks.

Reviewed here. War movies aren’t my favorite, but Jake is excellent.

I really enjoyed this. Definitely not a feel good movie…the characters were all depressing and things aren’t necessarily looking up for them when it’s all said and done. Everyone is neurotic and painfully lonely. Very realistic. Not enough Jake for my tastes, and I’ve got to say I’m glad he didn’t become stereotyped into the role of jailbait after doing this and “The Good Girl.”
