Yesterday I got running shoes and today I had every reason not to start running today. It was late and getting dark, in the evenings there are a lot of mosquitoes and I’m allergic. Also I was wondering if there would be a lot of people that I know or any people at all. I didn’t want anyone to criticize my running/walking.
I have been delaying this for so long and somehow I decided to go.
There is a levee 5 minutes from my house and for years I have been going there to roller blade.
I was running 1 and walk 2 minutes. And I did it for 30 minutes.
It was dark, I got mosquito bites all over my arms, shoulders and neck. I saw a snake on my way home.
I came wet and red, but proud. 1 month ago

Yesterday me and my darling went shopping and I got awesome looking army shorts.
He said they would be great for rollerblading (I do this quite often).
As I was walking home over the path I’m usually rollerblading, I thought those shorts would be great for running too.
So I decided to ask my mom to buy me running shoes, since my dear bought me high heel shoes.
And then I just have to wait a bit longer for some warmer weather and that’s it. I found great program how to start running.
At first you walk much more then run. As time passes you replace walking time with running time and that’s it. 5 months ago

I have never been a runner. Even in High school I didn’t run the mile, I walked it. A few years ago I decided I wanted to learn to run. I did a couch to 5K but was still mostly a walker. In spring 2012 I joined a group called No Boundaries sponsored by New Balance at my local Fleet Feet Running store. This is a beginner 5k training group. It changed everything. I learned to find my own pace and not worry about others. I was still run walking but more running than walking.
Nov 2, 2012 I completed a 1/2 marathon run/walking. It was fantastic!! A week or so after that a friend invited me to run with her. I was nervous because she’s training for a marathon and is not doing a run/walk but I knew her pace was about were mine was with my run walking.
I was amazed that by slowing my running pace down I was able to run continuously talk and laugh and not have to walk up the hills!!
I’m a runner. You wouldn’t know it by looking at me, but I’m a runner and I love it! 5 months ago

How I did it: I bought a book from Runners World, Run your butt off and it really really worked. I was a runner before but stopped doing it because I realized I hated running. I had ten pounds to lose and wanted to be healthier, so I started this program, a walk to run program and still run 3 days a week! Read how I did it… 6 months ago
