I’m going to run more consistently. I’m working on tempo runs, fartlek/interval, long runs, and hills. Lot of RW support will help motivate my training.

I adore Mrs Kara Goucher and Adam Goucher. Kara is one of my inspirations. She started running after quitting volleyball tryouts in middle school/high school. Always dabble in your hobbies, you never know what your hidden talent is unless you try.

After a lot of the all-state XC runners, got cut from basketball team or soccer team and tried out from XC instead.

Did It!!! 2 years ago

My one clearly stated New Years Resolution was to run a 5k in under a 7 minute pace. First race I ever entered was last December and ran it in 7:22. So a friend and I determined to get better and vowed to each other to do this by March of this year. So…on a ridiculously rainy and windy day in Seattle, I ran a 6:34 pace!!! for 3.38 miles….my buddy went from a 7:44 to 6:54 (I was almost more happy for him than myself.) Kick ass. Couldn’t believe it. Practicing on hills was magic. Good luck everybody.

My best ever time was…. 18:32. Which, is quite sucky in cross country standards, but I was proud of myeslf.

Update 2 years ago

OK, so this week (monday through sunday) I ran 13 miles. It’s been a month now that I’ve been running and this is my first time going over ten miles in a week. Next week I will try and run more, like 15-18 miles, and then 20 the week after that, and then from then on no more than 10% increase per week.

Today’s run was totally sucky, I ran a grand total of a mile and it was incredibly painful… Think it was just a bad run, not a symptom of anything greater. Last thursday I ran an AWESOME 5 miles at like 8:30 pace, so I’m looking forward to more of that and less of this.

Ran 5 miles in 8:38 pace… That correlates to a 26 something 5k… so I can probably manage somewhere in the 24 range right now if I only ran 5k instead of 5 miles. Still have a few more weeks until the race, and I’m adding a third day of training a week. I won’t hit the goal on Thanksgiving probably, but I’ll be close.
