Spatz#42 and 43 - More goo

In to the wastebasket – two tubes of hair products that didn’t work and that I kept around in a stubborn effort to make them do.

I finally bought one product to replace them and threw the rest away – after one year!

So, that makes that goal done, though I’ve got to admit most of the things were thrown away.

On to a new goal! 5 days ago

sofstreeto the trash--

Inspiration from my mother and her campaign to eliminate ‘toxic’ materials or whatever.

Trashed

12. blistex chapstick
13. another diff type of chapstick
14. lip gloss
15. more lip gloss

So 15 of 43 items gotten rid of somehow… trash isn’t the preferable way but for hygienic reasons, that was the route for this one. 5 days ago

Spatz#41 - Mobile it was

On to the donation pile – my 10 year old mobile I didn’t use for the last 7 years.
I kept it around in case I would need a backup. But since then, I acquired a new company mobile and now I have two backups around. And that’s the way it was for the last three years.

So, on to the donation pile with the oldest mobile. The rest, we will see come summer. 3 weeks ago

sofstreea late addition

as I donated these things weeks ago, but forgot to list them here. From what I recall—

8. pink polo shirt
9. light blue polo shirt
10. dark blue polo shirt
11. pair of black pants

and I have the feeling there was more, in the way of t-shirts or some such, but seeing as I can’t recall I guess I made the right choice in getting rid of those articles of clothing… 3 weeks ago

TGExtra credit #11 Videotape

I’ve been very slowly replacing my videotaped movies with DVD’s. I’ve been watching for this one for a long time, but every time I saw it for a reasonable price, it was fullscreen rather than widescreen and I hate fullscreen movies. I finally found a widescreen copy a few months ago so I gave this tape to my ex. 4 weeks ago

TGExtra credit #9 & #10 Dish towels

You can see from the photo how threadbare these old dishtowels were! That’s not surprising, since they belonged to my first ex (she was into strawberries)- meaning that they were close to 30 years old. I finally got tired of trying to use them and spent a few dollars on a couple new ones. These were probably a cotton/polyester blend, but in case they were pure cotton I buried them at the edge of the brushpile in my backyard (where the soil stays moister and they would decompose faster). 4 weeks ago

TGExtra credit #8 Magnet

This was kind of an interesting little magnet in the shape of a Tupperware lid (I still have a couple pieces of this Tupperware that are many years old!), but the magnet on the back was pretty crappy and I couldn’t use it to hold anything to the fridge. I decided I could live without it :o and donated it to the thrift store. 1 month ago

TGExtra credit #7 Colander

As you may be able to tell from this photo, my old aluminum colander needed to be retired years ago- it was dented up, both handles were missing, and the feet were bent and broken. The problem was that I couldn’t find another that I liked- everything recent seems to have holes that are too big or doesn’t have enough holes to drain well. When Mom died a couple years ago the only thing that I asked for from her kitchen was her old colander, which is similar to this one but better-made.

I donated this one to the scrap metal yard for recycling. 1 month ago

TGExtra credit #6 Dryer vent hood

This was an old dryer vent hood left in the mud room when I bought my house. The dryer isn’t really set up to use this so I don’t need it. I would have donated it to the Habitat for Humanity resale store, but it was pretty bent up. Instead I just donated it to a local scrap metal yard. 1 month ago

Spatz#40 - Rolling

On to the garbage – an eye gel roll on I saved.
Only to discover it’s only good for 6 months once it’s opened and of course I’ve got no idea when I opened it. 2 years ago?
It smells spoiled.
There you go: Use it now. 1 month ago

candykisses06#3

3. My brother asked if he could have my old Acer laptop I had purchased a few years ago. It’s junk pretty much, but it’s better than me holding onto it and he’s happy with it plus he wanted to have a backup in case his desktop computer fails. 1 month ago

candykisses06#1 & #2

1. Gave A’s son my Sonic plush which he loved.

2. Also, about a month ago I gave my mom a frog bank that I had hand decorated and really had no need for. 1 month ago

Spatz#39 - Cream once more

On to the garbage – another tub of moisturizer I bought and didn’t like. Kept it and tried it once more. Didn’t like it. Decided to try and use it as a eye makeup remover. Didn’t work and still I didn’t throw it away and keep it on my shelf to remind me of – well, what exactly?
Off to the garbage. Sigh. 1 month ago

sofstreeokay, donated several items! yay

Dropped off at local donation center:

1. pair of black scrubs
2. white wall clock
3. black wall clock
4. small red purse
5. casual t-shirt
6. casual t-shirt
7. athletic shorts

all in good wearable/useable condition. 2 months ago

Spatz#38 - Itchy & Scratchy

On to the do action pile – some nice and pretty but uncomfortable garments.
I kept them around but on trying them on they are just scratchy.
Somebody else might enjoy them. 2 months ago

sofstreemaking sure the items are truly donated

I’ve decided I won’t count donated items until they have made the full trip. Meaning, first, packaged/bagged up in one place. Then, leaving my home, usually to the car. And after that, going from the car to the drop off point, successfully.

Can you tell I might have had a difficulty or two getting through all the above steps in the past?

So since I am still relatively new to the area I am in, I used Google to find a place I’d like to donate to, which is quite close. That’s another closer step.

So, bagged/boxed up items (several items, not tons of stuff but more than a few, mainly clothing) in trunk need to get to -> chosen donation center. This is the step we are on before I will happily list and count the items toward this goal… 2 months ago

Spatz#37 - Deo me

On to the garbage – some deodorant I found in the hair stuff drawer. I didn’t like it and of course I put it back into the cabinet.
Off we go. 2 months ago

Spatz#36 - Hair Goo gone

On to the garbage – the first of the hair stuff bottles. A hair serum that never did anything remarkable or was nice to use.
Why I kept it around for 3 years is a good question. Perhaps because it was a nice pink?
Well, it’s nicely pink in the garbage now. 2 months ago

Spatz#35 - Pile off

On the donation pile – a top I liked a lot a year ago and now, when I dug it out again, didn’t like at all.
I carried it around on two vacations and to three events and didn’t wear it once.

Time to let somebody else enjoy it. 2 months ago

TGExtra credit #5 Book

Another book I sent to my best friend. I thought that a book about the gauchos would be interesting- I was wrong :P But the subject is in my friend’s area of study so he wanted to take a look at it. 2 months ago

Spatz#34 - Cream off!

Ha, I’ve finally made it through all stashes of face creams.
On to the garbage: one eye cream and a serum I received as a gift, didn’t like and kept anyway, and one cream I tried, didn’t like and kept around to see if the miracle cream fairy would come and change it, obviously.
The fairy never arrived, it seems, so off to the garbage they go!

So, that’s it with the face creams. Now on to the next shelf: Hair stuff. :-) 2 months ago
