I have to start doing this. My A1C was 5.7 and I am going for a stress echo on Monday.
I will beat diabetes if it kills me by exercising! Arrrghhh – how did I ever let it get this bad! 7 years ago
See the writing curriculum goal….
However, since I am having a pain in my left shoulder blade, I guess I better start walking! (This pain only after my children make me scream, blow a gasket, and have an aneurysm!) 7 years ago
that’s a problem when you try to actually start a habit over a holiday period…..
I have to get back on track next week. 7 years ago
three times this week – today – 2 miles!
I’ll try to wear the pedometer next week the whole time to compute my steps. 7 years ago
I joined the Bob Greene Walking Club on ediets…..I’ll post my stats when I get the pedometer and begin uploading my data to the computer.
This will be interesting. I think I’ll see that I exercise more than I really think I do and that’s why it’s not helping me lose weight is because I am already active and I need to get active differently or in a challenging way. 7 years ago
I am doing it!!!!! 7 years ago
I went to the gym Friday morning, and this morning, and I am water walking tonight. If I go to the gym tomorrow, and then Friday, I will have done this for this week. 7 years ago
I went to Riverchase and walked Thursday around the track for 2 miles, and today, I walked the dog in the evening for around 1 1/2 miles.
So far so good….let’s see if I can keep it up next week. 7 years ago
Walked the track for a good 30-40 minutes – guaranteed a mile and half I think.
Felt good – will do it again either Wednesday or Thursday night. 7 years ago
Guess what guys….I do walk everyday. I have to go to class everyday. Since I know I won’t walk when I get home, I take the stairs in all the buildings and walk around the long way of the building instead of going in the front door. 7 years ago
well I am disgusted at how this fell by the wayside.
Now that it’s lighter, I need to try to wake up an hour earlier to walk the dog….otherwise, I won’t be able to do it when I come home because it’s dark. 7 years ago
I need to change this goal so I am marking it “done” and rewording it. I have come to realize that I can’t actually walk “three times a week” because I lose track of when I went last and how many walks I’ve gone for this week. So I am going to change this to “Go for a walk each day.” Since this is a very flexible goal, I’d like to add that a “walk” for me can be as short as down the street and back, and as long as two hours’ worth of walking in a park or canyon or at the beach. Multiple walks (short or long) are also always an option.
Today I went for a long morning walk and then a nice afternoon walk at the beach. Will walk again before bedtime. 7 years ago
Thursday night at 9:45 or so. Walked until a little after ten. It was nice and quiet, and I listened to the CD player so I didn’t have to hear the ooglies back behind the big lake.
I will make it a point to do that either tonight…..or go to gym tonight and walk tomorrow – cloudy weather starting to come up here from Rita so it’s kinda icky. 7 years ago
Tonight, I think I will take the dog for a walk. I’ll let you know if I actually did it – now that sounds predestinated….
I’m soooo tired from staying up late! 7 years ago
I really needed a blood pressure releaser last week – the most horrible week of my life. Now, I think I can work this one in. I’m going to try to take a walk tonight with the dog. Then I will also try tomorrow morning or night.
I don’t know whether or not I will get a walk in the morning with the doggy, but if not, I will try and shoot for before bed each night next week.
He needs it, and so do I! 7 years ago
My ankle is doing better so I can walk again. I’m taking it easy, with one or two short walks rather than a long one. 7 years ago
I sprained my ankle this week so no walks for now :o( But I hope to be back on my feet next week. 7 years ago
And barefoot to boot!
- pun intended - It was pleasant, almost like a foot massage. 7 years ago
I went for a short walk the day before yesterday, another short (but longer) walk yesterday, and a relatively short but 50% uphill walk today. It’s getting to be fun again. 7 years ago
and have to clean off treadmill. Will try again tomorrow…terrible storms for the past 5 days straight….NEED to walk!!! To burn off stress…. 7 years ago
I got up early – and walked dog this morning….
about 40 minutes and maybe 1 mile???
Will shoot for again tomorrow morning. 7 years ago
After lots of relatively short walks last week I am starting to toss in a few longer ones. Last night I went to the beach with my friend B. and a friend’s dog. We had fun just strolling along and listening to the surf. The dog enjoyed the car ride, too.
This morning I took the dog on a walk through a lagoon that’s nearby. It was very relaxing (I walked barefoot through the sand) until the mosquitoes and ants started to bug us too much. The dog’s pooped now, but I’m feeling quite energetic. 7 years ago
today when buying shoes and products from Clinique. Took the youngest DS with me – so we skedaddled. About 1/2 mile or 1/2 hour, I’d say. Exhilarating, but probably not enough. 7 years ago
I’ve had two walks today, and will go for at least two more. :o) 7 years ago
Today, I was well-meaning in getting up at 8 and desiring to hit some majestic beautiful sights of St. Louis on a walk with the dog and my camera. Instead….I putzed around on the computer until noon, when my youngest asked me to take him with me on a walk. He, being the art afficionado he is, wanted to go to the Laumeier Sculpture Park, to which he has been numerous times, even knowing where all the sculptures are and the names of them (if he hasn’t coined a cute name himself). So we went…dog, son, camera and me…and we hiked…and hiked….I ended up snapping 53 or so shots – testing out my architecture angles and settings. Check them all out in flickr if you choose. And I’m sure we walked for over an hour…trekking up hills and down wooded paths…it felt good, but I was HOT, starved, and tired by the time we were finished. 7 years ago
