I really need to manage my money well as a single mom, but sometimes I want to stick my head in the sand…Ultimately, I know it does not good. I was “on the wagon” for a time, now have “fallen off” again because I just don’t want to know. Because if I don’t know, I can pretend, right?
Got a Quicken update today. I use Quicken to keep my checkbook and somehow it makes the process less painful. All cheers appreciated! Need lots of encouragement!

access my account information online. That makes it easier for me to check in and see if my balance is up to date. Today I wrote out the check for rent, updated my checkbook ledger, and will continue to update it with EACH AND EVERY TRANSACTION. :)

Part of the reason I’m doing this is because of my studies. In one and a half years, I’ll graduate as Master of Business Administration (or at least the Austrian equivalent thereof). Basically, balancing my checkbook is practise for me.

Every day for the last week or so, I’ve kept right on top of my bank account record keeping. I’ve also stopped carrying my debit card in my wallet…I now carry it in a little spot in my checkbook cover, so whenever I use it I already have the checkbook open and can record in the register right there and then. It’s been working great.
