Get my epilepsy under control

I suffer from epilespy and I am wondering if have had one tonight.

I have been diagnosed with this since July 2006. The seizures almost made me drop out of my last semester of college however I made it and graduated that Dec. The messed up part is that I have not been able to do anything since that time because I have yet to find a medication that adequately controls my seizures. Therefore my family won’t even let me out the house without being monitered at such grown age because of all the dangerous situations this has caused me. I am gonna fight this…..its just controlling everything that I had planned for my post-collegiate experience…......I got this though…With God’s help I’ll beat it!!!

I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 16 and have speant the last 4 years trying to get things under control. I am actually writing this from my hospital room.

I actually consider it to be under control by now Or atleast it doesn’t interfere with my life anymore. SoI gues a better goal would be to help other folks deal with their epilepsy. I’ve only met one neurologist that had seizures. So They are not completely qualified to deal with patients appropriately. I think the Epilepsy foundation has to start doing more too. It seems as though no one knows what epilepsy is.

I’ve re-ordered my list today and am moving this goal from the very top to the very bottom. I don’t want to put this as a goal that I have technically completed because I have an odd feeling of foreboding about that. But things have been going so well with me for a year or so and I now comfortable moving this away from my first priority. YAY!

Who knew you could develop it out of the blue @ 20 yrs old? Well I know that now… After 5 years on the same medication with slowly increasing dosages (Tegretol XR, 200mg capsules), I’ve had more seizures in the past year than I had at all before that. I was one of the lucky ones who had a seizure maybe once a year. In the past year I’ve had 4 seizures, 3 of them in the past six months.
Going to yet another new neurologist to see if this one will actually listen to me about my minor blackouts and periods of simple phasing out that I know are related but other docs haven’t even listened to me about.

I’ve had three seizures in four weeks now – which, to some people, would be fabulous. For me, however, that’s more in a shorter period of time than I have ver had before, with the possible exception of college. I was too drunk then to remember to take my pills all the time. Now, I’m remembering but it seems like if I am even slightly off in the time of day, I am well and truly fucked. I’ve run through most of the major medications – Dilantin, Depakote, Zonegran, Lamictal, Neurontin, Keppra… not having much luck on single-therapy on any of them. Right now I am on two different drugs, and still no luck. It’s frustrating.

I think I had a bigger-than-my-usual-kind seizure tonight. :/

One sucky thing about living alone; I don’t actually know what happened.
