Manuel Bartsch has been jailed for being unable to produce a visa. He has been in America since 1997 and has attended school here since that time.
He is a senior in Gilboa, Ohio. Arrested over Christmas break for paperwork that his guardian (step grandfather) neglected to finish in 1997. He is unable to attend school as he is in jail.
Through no fault of his own, he is caught up in an unforgiving system. Yes, this is America.
