New IsabellaWell, not exactly a farm...

More like a small vegetable patch in a corner of the church grounds. As a reward for volunteering to weed, I got to dig up two small purple-colored kohlrabi, about 5 short fat knobby misshapen carrots, and a big handful of lettuce, roots and all.
I don’t think I’ve ever cooked or eaten kohlrabi before. Following my gardening friend’s instructions, I grated the kohlrabi bulbs along with two carrots and added them to some lettuce and ranch dressing to make a salad which was sort of cole-slaw-like. Also, after checking to see if the kohlrabi greens were edible, I decided to cook them with some onions and garlic and add some cooked rice and grated cheese. It was an interesting change of pace from getting the same old thing at the grocery store, although it took awhile for me to clean it all once I got it home. I still have some carrots and lettuce left for tomorrow. 13 months ago
