I keep saying I’m going to do it and now that time has come. For the longest I have worked as a makeup artist and involved myself in the film industry, now I want to transition to screenwriter. With that said I’ve written my first two feature screenplays this summer.I thought that was the hard part…not even close. It takes more than just what the “writer” thinks is good material to sell it. In order to gain more exposure,to get a decent agent, to find a production company willing to fund the film, you need visibility. So I am looking for a small film crew and artists in the Chicago area to follow around for a documetary style film. I asked my friend who is a recent film school grad to assist me with the project. So far we have been getting a really positive response from my Craigslist post and several other notes I have been leaving on other sites as well.
We hope to start filming as early as mid September.
Every artist deserves to be seen and we are going start in Chicago and take it from there.

Kind of done..

I helped produce a short. I’m not going to count this goal as complete though, as I really meant “produce my own project”. This was a project that belonged to some friends of mine and they asked me to help produce (and film, and score, and foley).
Anyway, it was a good learning experience. In fact, I think I’ll try to repeat it a few more times before I pursue my own project.

I have loved films since I was a kid. i remember when I would use my family VHS and Beta max to edit our tapes and make my own trailers for movies the movies I loved. I would even write screenplays and make my cousins rehearse and then act them out on camera. Ah, the good ole days. Well, anyhoo, I would love to make an independent film. Something along the lines of XX/XY, Half Nelson, Taxi Driver..I know weird combo.

...I want to produce and direct another film. I’m an adult now and would have a vastly different vision of how I’d want to tell a story. I’ve learned so much over the years of watching some of the best docs and fiction films. I have a much finer appreciation of aesthetics. I also want to formally study storytelling and photography in school.
My next film might even be fictional (and inspired by social issues most likely).

I’ve produced a couple of docos independently and now am producing one funded by film agencies and a broadcaster. I never knew this was what I wanted to do with my life until I started doing it!

JoeyPapi is on 43things for the first time in a while
Currently working on Sensory Perception. My first job as a producer. Figureing alot of stuff out as I go. Most of us are young filmmakers on this project so there is alot of room to learn.
Things are going smoothly thus far, though, which is amazing and awesome. my key to success thus far has been to find people who ARE more experienced and bring them on board.

I finally started working for a film production/distribution company. I hope this opportunity hooks me up for being involved producing films.

actually grand scheme is going to be a goal on it’s own, one day, but for now, producing a film is a separate component. Ideally, it would be a ocumentary filmed in northern canada, on a remote reservation, and then eventually onto Africa.
all in the grand scheme, really
