Or maybe not. The single-player missions were a mess. Roughly half the Terran missions, you were up against fellow Terrans, which took away the excitement of using your new units against the Zerg or the Protoss. The Protoss missions were OK. Nothing to write home about. The Zerg missions? Ugh! They were either brain-dead easy or insanely hard. I put off playing the final three Zerg missions for close to two years now. They rank up there among the hardest missions I’ve ever played in any RTS. (Well, except maybe that final Survivor mission in KKND2.) Good thing the enemy AI wasn’t that good. Otherwise, those missions in particular would have been practically unwinnable. Rusty as I was, I forced myself to finish this thing before SC2 comes out in December(?).
Glad its all over. Well, I did skip over the bonus level. That can wait. The important thing was finishing the final mission. That’s what matters.
Onward to StarCraft II!
gg ;-)
FINALLY! Snagged it after putting it off for two years. That was one tough level where they sent you wave after wave of battle cruisers, guardians, ultralisks, etc. Had to strike hard and strike fast! Drop points had to be precise. Proper timing was of the essence and meant the difference between victory or annihilation.
Nothing really fancy. Took out the bases one by one. Used 8-10 overlords loaded with 4 hydralisks each. Backed by a few queens to take out the siege tanks and enemy ultralisks.
To fend off enemy attacks, I plagued attacking squads with defilers to weaken them. I had to keep the economy going while doing all that.
Finally, I cleared the area around the overmind with close to a dozen upgraded guardians. Had to do this from the north end. A dozen ultralisks kept enemy lurkers busy while my templars killed the overmind.
Really tough level. One or two (?) to go!
Well I am going to try to go for this one again. I think I saved my stopping point from before if I can find it that will move me ahead if not starting over is not that bad. It will just take a little longer.
I heard there is another starcraft due out Starcraft 2. :)
Well I installed the orginal again. Almost through the human campain. Broodwars will have to come after that. :)
fanboy is focusing on what's most important
but in like 1998. Even though games have come and gone, this is still my #1 favorite game of all time.
The multiplayer in that game is just spectacular. I’m kind of curious if people still play on battle.net and how popular it is?
Blizzard: if you’re out there, can we please get a sequel already?
By the way, don’t forget about the campaign released by blizzard on their website called “The Enslavers.” Extremely fun single player.
The reason games like this always succeed is because of the great playability. The last levels of this game ARE really tough, but winning is like beating Bubble Bobble. (Remember that game? 99 levels and no continues?)
Well, this goal will be on hold at least for me for a little while. After I reformatted my computer I never installed it and now no time. I will beat this one someday. :)
yakuza who has missed me?
The last levels of Brood War are kind of tough, but a little bit of ambition, lots of minerals and gas, and you’ll be set :)
Well I beat level 8 not even a real problem today. Just took time of weakening them and moving forward. Over and over again. :)
I tried level 9 but did not do it. 30 min to kill the protoss. The correct path has eluded me so far. But it has only been 1 try so lots of tries left in me. :)
My guess now is there are at least 10 levels. Right now I have no idea if that is even close but we shall see.
