Invest my money

I need to start making money before I can invest it :( However, once I finish up my classes, I plan on reading a lot about investment. Cody will be a good resource to start with and supposedly another one of my brothers, Todd Carter, is into that sort of stuff, so I can tap him for any information/insight which he might be able to provide as well

hi, i am going to open a bank account soon, but i really…dont know much about investing and how it works, can anyone tell me in simple terms how do i start? and how it works? and the risks involved? hanks a lot

Well, I opened an IRA a few months back. I’m already losing money. That’s a nice reward for my risk, huh?

Oh well, I guess I have time to wait.

I’ve been working for 5 solid years in design now and I’ve managed over the years to slowly build up some savings despite backpacking trips and buying a truck. I’m frozen in the headlights though, afraid to move that money out of my bank account where it doesn’t grow, I actually get charged each month!

This week I finally invested in Wendy’s and Tim Horton’s because I’m such a big coffee fan. I’ve lost money on it so far but maybe if I stick with it it will go up long term… I finally invest and 5 days later I’m down $100. :(

Am I really the only person with this goal? Why?! It seems like lots of people would want to do this! It’s not glamorous, sure… maybe they name it something else, I don’t know.

One thing I’ve learned from being a freelancer and a temp is that no one is going to look after me but myself. I pay for my own damn health insurance with my own meager income, I lose money on my days off, and I am the only one in charge of how I spend or save. As a result I am the stingiest person alive (almost), I have little to nothing in assets, and I really need to see my itty bitty savings grow so that perhaps I’ll be okay many years down the road. At the moment I can barely support my own ass but I have to do this to feel like I’m thinking about my future. If I knew the world was going to end in 6 years I may not be so worried about it (as a matter of fact, I’d borrow borrow borrow!) but who knows how long I’ll be sticking around so I want a little nest egg.
