How to sleep in a hammock by Novac

"A nice comfy nap in a hammock."

How I did it: While traveling up and down the east coast with my wife this past July, we stopped at a relative's house for a couple days. I was delighted to see that he had a hammock hanging in his basement!
Exhausted from our journies, I took the opportunity to lay down and practically pass out for a few hours. Very comfortable, though I must admit that hammocks have never been as comfortable as beds, in my opinion.

Oh so comfy!

How I did it: You can make  your own hammock with:  3 yards of denim or canvas ($3/yd @ Walmart)  a sewing machine  good rope Be sure to stitch it very tight. I use thick decorative stitching. I have never had one of my hammocks give out, even with 5 people piled in one. You still have to be very careful when you first hang it up, however. Good luck! Read how I did it…

    I have the frame and an old fabric cocoon 3 months ago

    but the cocoon has a broken strap so it can’t connect to the frame properly – so in order to sleep in this hammock I need to repair or make a new cocoon (I have no idea if you call the part you lay in a cocoon or not but I do!)

    So this is something I have done several times lately. We have 2 ENO hammocks that are super wonderful & we recently set permanent eyehooks in our living room walls. Now we can stretch them across the room & watch movies & lounge in them. NICE. haha

    My favorite place to be in the whole world is hidden inside of the hammock on my aunt and uncle’s farm in Oregon, reading a book and eating berries picked from their raspberry bushes. Nothing tops that sort of simple beauty.
