Ru ~ dig deeperYes Wii can!

Today marks 1,000 days I’ve been using Wii Fit+!

My initial goal (22 BMI) is something I reached and stayed with solidly until last month (much like December 2011) when copious amounts of holiday goodies and less exercise made for a sharp incline that nudged me into the 23’s (top: 23.28).

I reached my first 2013 goalpost this morning (which is a nice way to celebrate), getting back into the 22’s. Now to ramp up the exercise and reign in the Christmas gluttony so I can ease back down to that 22. I can do it! 4 months ago

Ru ~ dig deeperBack to two two

As suspected, the Christmas season was generous to my BMI, due to both overindulgence and carving some notches on the sloth stick, but I buckled down in January and welcomed February back below 22. Yay! 15 months ago

Huzzah! I didn’t want to mark this off at first (as a ferocious migraine contributed to the negation of the final couple of pounds), but I’ve kept below that 22 mark all week, so I’m saying it’s done like dinner. A healthy dinner. With salad.

If I rise above 22 for any substantial amount of time I’ll re-add this (yes, Christmas, I see you on the horizon), but for now I’m feeling pretty pleased that I managed to knock off all the baby weight within 7 months instead of waiting half a decade to even start trying hard.

Yay me! No where’s that lingerie gift card carrot… ah, there it is! 18 months ago

Ru ~ dig deeper22.18!

Inching along here, this last stretch is proving to be a bumpy ride. I’ve been waffling up and down (possibly with some hindrance from some actual waffles), but the new low mark on the waistline goalpost is 22.18. Closer and closer. I still need to set those last few pounds free… 18 months ago

Ru ~ dig deeperWalking with vegetables

With the help of daily hikes, healthier habits, and some within-reason self restraint, I’ve descended again, beating my next mini goal post early. My current BMI is 22.36! Yes, today I finally dipped into the 130’s! Woot! Not far now. Not far at all! Onto those last 5 pounds! 19 months ago

Ru ~ dig deeperPost baby baby steps

After a few minor wobbles I’m back on the right track again, hitting 22.46; a new low and the next mini goalpost. Win of the day: when faced with a choice between the two I grabbed low fat lemon yogurt instead of a hazelnut chocolate bar. I’m also looking at a new Wii exercise game (ExerBeat) as the weather takes a nosedive.

Really pleased that I’ve gotten on the ball and it hasn’t taken years to come this far… waving a quiet “proud of me” flag for sticking with things even when I’m thoroughly pooped.

For the record, I have a $50 gift certificate for lingerie waiting for me when I hit 22. Incentives never hurt, and I could really use some new secret pretty things. Next baby step… 22.43! 20 months ago

Ru ~ dig deeperCloser and closer…

In mid-April my BMI was a hair from 27. Granted I had another person inside me, but there it was. After the initial post-baby weight drop I was still up in the 24 zone, and have worked hard to keep a slow but steady descent.

With my previous pregnancy, I had also quit smoking and managed to gain quite a bit, but didn’t seriously start getting back into shape until years later. Before this pregnancy I think I was in the best shape of my adult life, which helped me gain less and exercise throughout the pregnancy. This time I got back on the healthy weight loss train as soon as I had a doctor’s thumb facing up, and feel pretty good about how I’ve done so far.

This past week I’ve managed to remain steady in the high 22’s, and yesterday I hit 22.5. My goal is a BMI of 22, or about 135 pounds. When school starts I’ll be walking Isak up and down the big hill twice a day (with a growing baby strapped to me), so that’ll be very helpful in a good fresh air walking routine. I’m utilizing my Wii to keep track of my weight loss and switching up my 3 favorite exercise games indoors (Wii Fit Plus, Walk It Out, and Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout).

All this combined with the usual mommy activities and house whipping gumption plus trying to eat healthy, curb the treats (within reason – I try to balance the butter chicken and chocolate with the spinach salad and V8), and keeping the cortisol to a minimum… I feel fairly confident I’ll be hitting 22 before too long. 21 months ago
