I don’t feel motivated like I used to…I’m half Arabic so i should know how to speak it. I thought about learning online…and I did for a little bit..but I already knew that stuff and I just left it alone.
When I get chance I definitely wanna learn..and I’ll be committed to it.
Just not yet because school is tiring me out…and it’s gonna be tough learning Arabic and Spanish at the same time.
So eventually…

I believe i’m going to the Middle East for a few months (or years) and would like to know a few basics and understand how the language works. I bought an alphabet book and a comprehensive language book and would like to have decent progress on them within the next two months or so.

After moving cross country, I got behind on this goal. I’m now back on it—an hour a day with Rosetta Stone. My listening skills are improving, but I can’t speak for beans.
Next month I’ll start a beginning Arabic course. If I find one cool person to practice with, the course will be worth it.

Well, the 01 August date fell through, but I started Rosetta Stone yesterday. So far I’ve done lessons 1-3 on Unit One. This program is really cool. It builds vocabulary through a logical progression. I really like it.
I’m motivated so far, but it’s a lot of work.

Just dusted off my copy of “ARABIC in 10 minutes a day” and will kick off my self study program 01 August. It’s not a really in depth study guide, but looks like a great primer before hitting the big stuff.
My Pasadena City College Arabic starter class kicks off 27 August, and I want to get a small jump on it. I’m also using Rosetta Stone, courtesy of our local public library. Again, every little bit helps.
I’m taking the class with my wife, so maybe this counts for spend more time with her. Cheesy - not really, because it’s time spent.
Still, since she speaks 7 languages, and I struggle with my native tongue (English), I don’t foresee this as a “quality” time activity. There’s nothing like a twice a week dose of realizing just how much smarter your spouse is than you.
But she married me, so how smart can she really be.

I had a 4 day crash course before deploying to Iraq, but now want to learn more.
so I finished my course in Morocco, finishing level 200 and Al Kitab book 1 and I’m back home. I want to carry on learning Arabic, but I need a break over the summer, maybe in September I’ll take an evening course in it or something.
My friend is helping me with Arabic so I want to make this a habit at least for the time being.
