Make my bed every day

Entries

Even if I do it just before I go to bed at night, I always make my bed!!  — 6 days ago

Worth doing!

This is a newer one for me, I would say I started this about a year ago but I have been making my bed every day since!! I usually make it right away after I wake up but sometimes I have to go potty so bad that I put it off but I NEED to have it made before I got to bed at night so sometimes I do it at 10’o clock at night!! It is worth it!!

I was doing so good,  — 1 week ago

and then I started my summer classes and was just not inspired in the morning to make my bed.

Oh, how nice it would be to always have my room put together. My problem is that if I don’t make a solid schedule and schedule something like this in, I won’t consider it important enough to do.

new goal  — 2 weeks ago

I did have “make my bedroom a sanctuary of peace” as a goal on here, but found it too big for me to tackle. So I’m going to use baby steps to get there. Start with making my bed. Once I do that, then it’s logical I’ll want to hang up my clothes instead of throwing them on the ground, yes? And then it’s on to putting my jewellery away in the proper spots, rather than heaping it all in a jumbled mess on the dresser…..and so on and so forth.

Worth doing!

I’ve made my bed every day for over a month now, so I consider it a habit. I would recommend doing this goal, because it makes the house seem cleaner, and because it deters me from taking naps during the day.

for now. Although it isn’t a true habit, I notice when my bed is not made and I make an effort to do it in the morning… or at least at night, when I get home. The room looks so much better and I get the feeling of being organised.

Fernweh is not in London anymore

So far so good and other musings  — 2 months ago

I’ve been doing this for a couple of day now and it is going well. I’m quite pleased with myself. I’m not sure if I should crank this one up a notch. It feels almost too easy! Maybe I could go the extra step of shaking out the blanket under the sheet on the mattress and reapplying the fitted sheet daily. Hmmm, that might be a bit hardcore and wouldn’t be sustainable on busy days. Perhaps I could air the duvets at the weekend when I do my weekly wash…

Well my mattress...  — 2 months ago

This is something I’ve never been in the habit of doing. I grew up in a large family and both my parents worked shifts to get by. The less important bits of housework like making beds and ironing were not included in our weekly routine and we never felt like we were missing out.

Sometimes I meet other people who lay great emphasis on making beds, like mothers who drill their children to make their beds before school or spend time making the family’s beds whilst they are out. I’m glad it wasn’t a big deal when I was small.

It is nice to come back to a lovely fluffy shaken out and done bed though. And it looks quite nice too. I don’t have a bed at the moment and I sleep on a mattress on the floor but it is still nice to come back to a done mattress.

.. at least most of the time. I realised that for me making my bed in the morning doesn’t really have anything to do with whether or not I have the time, but rather whether I have the feeling of having control of my life. Sometimes I am just floating, getting up, going to work, coming home, going to sleep without any organisation or control. I though making my bed would help get that control, but it seems to be the other way around.

making the bed  — 3 months ago

Worth doing!

I started doing this goal because it’s an item on the cleansweep list. I’ve been making the bed for a week now, and it’s not that bad.

It does make the bedroom seem cleaner, and it discourages me from going back to sleep during the day. If I can do it for a month, I’ll consider this a habit.
