Okay, I live in Des Moines, Iowa, so I wasn’t technically mountain biking, but I did take the mountain bike my husband fixed up for me off-road today. And it was a blast!

It was slow going since I am not accustomed to navigating tree roots, ruts, rocks, sand, mud and tree limbs. I had one foot down a lot and, I admit, I fell once! Off-roading requires quick decision making and really good balance.

I don’t usually get sore from cycling, but I think I might this time from having to grip my handlebars so tightly and using all of those small muscles all over my body to keep myself upright. The mountain biking trail we took ended at a paved trail. Boy, did that paved trail feel simple after that experience! I will definitely do it again. 21 months ago
