get straight As in college

For the first time in my life I earned straight As for a full course load in college! Okay it turned out like this:

Course #1: A
Course #2: A
Course #3: A
Course #4: A
Course #5: A-

I just took final exams nearly two weeks ago and I am worried if I can achieve straight As. I just found out that my school assigns plus and minus grades for students. At my old school, an A was an A, a B was a B. It looks like I will end up with:

Course 1: A
Course 2: A-
Course 3: A-
Course 4: B+
Course 5: B+

Now these grades are admirable, but the whole plus or minus thing really screwed me up. I mean a student could have an 89.54, but the end result will still be a B+! Oh well, I tried anyway.

I have taken four midterms so far, and only one in history is left. I should pass this test easily. I am a little bummed because I made an 87 on my British Literature midterm. :( I wanted an A! Well, it’s not too late to raise those grades…

I am an English major and this is my junior year. So far most of my classes seem to be easily dealt with. However, my English 3100 course: 20th Century Composition Theory and Practice class is SO boring! I’m not even remotely interested in teaching composition, or teaching at all for that matter. This class is the only class that I am genuinely concerned about.

Already I have been assigned a presentation due on September 11, and I am the first person to present in my entire class. It’s a bit daunting, but I can’t and I won’t give up! I AM going to get straight As in all five of my classes this semester!

I may be able to get a scholarship if I get really good grades. I can do it, I just might have to pay more attention than usual. I can half-ass things and get 80% at least, but I’d really like to get into a decent school, like Pitt, and not have to pay 100% of tuition myself.

...this last semester. Hoot!
