I’ve been gone a long time. Coming home is wonderful and … well, a sigh and a heave of the shoulders, isn’t it?
Having my vision impaired friend stay at my house was nice in that the broken wire on the winged scarob painting was fixed and I am really glad that happened. I wasn’t strong enough to get the bolt loose myself. I had it on the list for when I could hire a handyman.
A cupboard door hinge was removed and given to home depot in exchange for some that don’t fit and thus, my kitchen cupboard door is off and sitting on the counter. My friend says the right size has to be ordered. (Honestly? I don’t think the hinge was broken. Those doors come off that hinge thingy all the time. I just put them back in. It took a boyfriend I had when I bought this house showing me how those clever type hinge thingies worked and once I did it was no problem when it happened. Which, generally is when you yank on the door opening it. So, fixing the door via a special order part is now added to my already full to do list. =/
A mirror that I hadn’t hung in the downstairs bathroom was hung and I am really glad for that. Now I only have to lower it two inches to cover the messy wall patch I did when the original mirror came down. And, since I am much shorter than the person that so nicely hung the mirror was, so I can see in it without standing on my tipey toes. Hanging the mirror was also on a hire a handyman list. It is a large mirror and it was pretty heavy for me to manage.
A kinda funny, kinda wish it hadn’t thing happened. Two of my foreign coca cola’s that were in the refrigerator were drank and one bottle tossed away. I can’t blame my friend as he can’t see to notice the foreign writing on them. It’s kinda funny because one was from Morocco, Africa, and I got it there in 1978. Can’t imagine how that thing tasted after 34 years! The bottle was recycled, so that’s a shame. The other one that was drunk was from Japan. Brought back 22 years ago, in 1990.
I have scrubbed at the tea water warmer carafe until my shoulders are tired and now have white vinegar being cooked in it, in hopes of getting the hard water stains. I knew my VI friend wouldn’t wipe the carafe out after each use to prevent the hard water from building up. I expected this to be on my coming home to do list. Truly, I did.
So, as I sit here and look around and my small carry on day pack unpacked to the living room floor, feel sad that the beautiful hand blown glass bowl I bought at a charity auction supporting animals arrived broken, causing a trip to the post office to be added to the to do list. I have the feeling of heading to the world of the overwhelmed.
My solution? (And why this is posted here!) Is each time I glance over at The Land of The Overwhelmed is to open one of the wonderful Chirstmas cards of good cheer you all sent. =) =) =) Just thinking about them raises my spirits.
So, THANK YOU, MB AND Zujie for the wonderful cards to raise my spirit, and bolster me on to Embrace The Day!
xoxo

(I would post a photo, but now my cell phone doesn’t seem to be sending things properly. I think I need to figure out some setting to change. It’s on my to do list!) 16 months ago
