This is my motto in life 19 months ago

I don’t like getting ruffled. Oh, I do (God did bless me to be a woman), but I would rather be respectful and kind in my response. You can still do that and get your point across and usually it makes things better for everyone.

Recently I did this on something that I was very angry and hurt-to-the-core. I did lash out, but I felt in a constructive, kind way. I said my peace, but didn’t become irrational.

If I had then it would have made me feel worse, and what good would that do me?!

this is a habitual kind of thing. I can’t help it. In a way, I guess it is “worth it” because it’s better to be the bigger person. Losing my temper would be a waste of my time & energy. But, in a way it’s also “not worth it” because it isn’t healthy to repress anger and pretend that someone else’s opinion/point of view is worth more than mine.

I think being assertive & open to fully expressing myself (with some tact) is the healthy way to go. Also, being truly forgiving instead of passive-aggressive.
