I went to the Rocky Mountains in Summer 2006, on the Canadian side (Banff, Kootenay, Jasper, etc.). Stayed there for three weeks – it was AMAZING!
I don’t even know how to put this is in words; I’ll just say that it’s totally worth it!!
(The picture is of “Lake Louise” in Banff National Park (I think :P), taken in July.)

Go Go GO! I wish I was there now! From NM all the way up into CA – anywhere you go will have fascinating things to see and do. Love it.

all I have to do is look out a window, or at worst get in the car and drive an hour- which we’ve done quite a few times so it hardly qualifies as a goal but is definitely worth doing
Just try not to do it when 5000 other people want to do it at the same time…:D

... it made it more interesting to have a knowledgeable tour guide tell you exactly what you were looking at as we drove through the mountains. I loved it.. I had never seen anything like this before.. the mountains i had seen before were just little baseball mounds compared to these. I saw wild elk..deer.. other little animals. I saw what avalanches looked like.. I hiked up a peak and was above the ice caps in the middle of hot hot hot summer. I was in awe the entire time. =D i even saw a double rainbow(one on top of another) that seemed so close to me as i looked off a cliff that i felt i could grab them. Coincidentally the cliff area was called Rainbow Curve and i was there at the right time =DDD I had such a wonderful time.

my dad was born in denver and he always talks about how much he loved colorado. we live in michigan because my mom’s family is here, and my dad hasn’t lived in colorado since he was little, but i know he misses it. so, along with all the other traveling i’m hoping to do in my life, i want to see the mountains that my dad loves so much.
