Chris CampbellFinding Music That I Like

When I started using last.fm 4 1/2 years ago, I was intrigued with the idea of automatically tracking the music that I was listening to. As I listened to more and more songs, the recommendations started getting better and I discovered a lot of music that I would never have found before. Bands like Lali Puna, The Fiery Furnaces, Tender Forever, Mates of State, The Blow, Asobi Seksu, and Anaïs. 4 years ago

Chris Campbell

LisaI have an account...

and I have discovered some pretty cool music. The artists that stand out for me are:

Tegan and Sara

The Click Five

and

Jason Mraz

The Click Five are my favourite from that list, though. I just need to find out where I can get their stuff in the UK. :)

I need to start using it more regularly again, I’ve been listening to my Itunes a lot. 4 years ago

Noisettes, Scout Niblett, El Perro del Mar, Figurines, Yann Tiersen, Beirut, Regina Spektor, Kimya Dawson, Dead Can Dance, Rasputina, Marble, The Long Blondes, Annie Gosfield, Suffrajett, The Slack Republic, The BellRays, The Themals, Switchblade Symphony, The Gossip, Bloc Party, Emilie Autumn, TV on the Radio, Corinne Bailey Rae, Sneaky Sound System, The Go! Team, Cloud Cult, Little Fish, Stiffed, The Pipettes, Sons and Daughters, and much more! ...just some great artist I discovered or hear more on at Last.FM. I plan to discover more! 5 years ago

yublockaSo how did I not know about last.fm until now?

Last.fm rocks! So much better than listening to crappy ad-infested radio stations that play the same ten songs over and over all day long and have announcers whose voices make you want to go and put your hand in between the blades of a blender.

Plus you can choose what kind of music you want: “chilling”, “electro”, “grunge” or a mix of anything and just go from there.

I’d say that at the moment it has re-connected me with old music I had forgotten about more than discovered new good stuff, but it’s definitely given me ideas for fresh tunes to put on my iPod.

It’s now officially my preferred musical entertainment when stuck in front of the computer for hours on end. Within the space of one short week, I now don’t know what I’d do without it! 5 years ago

Chris CampbellFinding More Music

I keep forgetting to listen to the recommendation radio, but every time I do I seem to find new music that that I like. My most recent discovery is the duo Mates of State who have a simple sound with drums and organ and a male and female voice. 5 years ago

Chris Campbelllast.fm and recommendations

I listened to my recommendation radio from last.fm on the weekend and discovered a Glaswegian band, Camera Obscura that I hadn’t heard before and I quite like them.
I’ve been using last.fm for about 2 1/2 years now and after submitting many tracks and listening to a lot of music some of the recommendations are pretty good. 6 years ago

rocketChips does all her own stuntsIt's inspired me to...

...finally make that long overdue mix tape (meaning a cd) for mi hermano filled with lots of good vibes. 6 years ago

DakotaThis isn’t working for me

Sure I discover music, but it’s more a rediscovery of music I already know, so I give up!. 6 years ago

I don’t do this I would rather just listen to my Itunes then do this, so I decided to take this off of my list and place it under I give up. But, I am discovering more good music my own way. 6 years ago

wndrlstgrlCorrupted?

I downloaded the zip files at work which seemed to go smoothly but on my home PC, I received a message saying that the files are corrupted and disallowing me to download them. Has anyone else encountered this problem? 7 years ago

BenJoin the 43things group in last.fm

Hi,

Currently there’s only eighttentwelve thirteen members, please consider joining up, once we get up to 15, the group charts start working. It would be interesting to see what other 43’s are listening to.

spokoHave to play around

Pick one or two artists that you like, but that you don’t know much other music that’s similar. Listen to the “Similar artist” radio, and you’ll probably come up with some stuff you like. I’ve found quite a bid of good new stuff, as well as rediscovering some old, familiar stuff. 7 years ago

Question: Nothing has been audioscribbled to my Windows Media Player except the sample stuff. Have I not listened to enough? (Six songs) Or is it my dreaded dail-up connection? 7 years ago

Is the Last.fm player working at the moment? Or is it just me? 7 years ago

DakotaNot sure....

If this is working for me. Most of the music Last.fm is suggesting, I already know. Have to wait and see what the future will bring I guess. I’ll give it some time :) 7 years ago
