Finding Music That I Like 5 months ago

When I started using last.fm 4 1/2 years ago, I was intrigued with the idea of automatically tracking the music that I was listening to. As I listened to more and more songs, the recommendations started getting better and I discovered a lot of music that I would never have found before. Bands like Lali Puna, The Fiery Furnaces, Tender Forever, Mates of State, The Blow, Asobi Seksu, and Anaïs.

and I have discovered some pretty cool music. The artists that stand out for me are:

    Tegan and Sara

    The Click Five

    and

    Jason Mraz

The Click Five are my favourite from that list, though. I just need to find out where I can get their stuff in the UK. :)

I need to start using it more regularly again, I’ve been listening to my Itunes a lot.

So how did I not know about last.fm until now? 22 months ago

Last.fm rocks! So much better than listening to crappy ad-infested radio stations that play the same ten songs over and over all day long and have announcers whose voices make you want to go and put your hand in between the blades of a blender.

Plus you can choose what kind of music you want: “chilling”, “electro”, “grunge” or a mix of anything and just go from there.

I’d say that at the moment it has re-connected me with old music I had forgotten about more than discovered new good stuff, but it’s definitely given me ideas for fresh tunes to put on my iPod.

It’s now officially my preferred musical entertainment when stuck in front of the computer for hours on end. Within the space of one short week, I now don’t know what I’d do without it!

Finding More Music 2 years ago

I keep forgetting to listen to the recommendation radio, but every time I do I seem to find new music that that I like. My most recent discovery is the duo Mates of State who have a simple sound with drums and organ and a male and female voice.

last.fm and recommendations 2 years ago

I listened to my recommendation radio from last.fm on the weekend and discovered a Glaswegian band, Camera Obscura that I hadn’t heard before and I quite like them.
I’ve been using last.fm for about 2 1/2 years now and after submitting many tracks and listening to a lot of music some of the recommendations are pretty good.

...finally make that long overdue mix tape (meaning a cd) for mi hermano filled with lots of good vibes.

This isn’t working for me 2 years ago

Sure I discover music, but it’s more a rediscovery of music I already know, so I give up!.

    Untitled 3 years ago

I don’t do this I would rather just listen to my Itunes then do this, so I decided to take this off of my list and place it under I give up. But, I am discovering more good music my own way.
