I’ve decided that I need to loosen up my definition of what I call “sketch daily” in order to meet my goal, but I’m ok with this. I figure that even if I hurriedly draw my coffee mug or sketch for 5 minutes in a waiting room, I’m still fulfilling my artistic side and getting some practice. I don’t need to create a masterpiece everyday. I needed to remember that “baby steps” work for most goals. I’m still filling a sketchbook and enjoying myself and that is the point.

Maybe I can get a calendar with big squares and do one a day until it becomes a habit. Note to self – Look for something like this.
It started in October and went into November – 21 straight days. That’s a good way to stay on track. I’ve been carrying my sketchbook in my purse along with my trusty micron pens. That helps!
I need to do this for at least 6 months before I can consider it complete. Because by then I should be in the habit, yeah?
I remember when Mom was taking writing classes. They had her writing 15 minute “freeform writing” things. Usually produced total nonsense, but somehow it sharpened her voice a little.
I used to draw a lot. In high school our art teacher had us keep a great big notebook and draw in it every day. Then in college I got discouraged and kind of quit. I’m trying to get back into it a little, but it’s very hard. I’m all by myself (creatively, at least) out in the middle of nowhere. I’ve tried online art communities, somehow they don’t work as well. Mom said one of her friends two counties away was starting a sketching group, but I haven’t heard anything about it for weeks.
Well. I’ll just have to try harder, yes?
if you don’t establish your own limits so you can create on adverse situations, you’ll be only pouring out drawings for no reason. Focus, limit yourself and draw!
I could do it, but I just don’t want to anymore. I don’t have that much energy to go around, so I need to make priorities and this isn’t one of them.
I did them while I was babysitting. Not very good, but glad I did them, I must keep it up if I am ever going to improve.
