I miss road-tripping soooo much. Unfortunately, my beloved husband is not terribly keen on it, so I haven’t taken one in years. I’ll figure it out (somehow).

How I did it: Took all kinds of clothes for every kind of weather, took a map, a tent and some books of France.. and just took off.. we drove as far as we could the first day. Take a stop in Arromanches, France.. stayed there 3 days at a b&b (they are all over!!) than drove on to Quiberon, a semi-island in Bretagne. The weather was awesome, the camping huge and perfect, swimmingpool, good food, etc. Than we returned, stopped in Carnac and drove bac… Read how I did it…
How I did it: 3 days after getting my full licence we flew off to london from Melbourne. The two boys and I bought a car the moment we touched down in Heathrow for 500 pounds (yes the mechanic bill may have cost more than the car!!) and set off from London to Barcelona for the launch of our charity rally (check out the Mongol Rally 2009).Three uni students (one had never left Australia before. I had never driven manual before!). A 1.2L engine car and 1… Read how I did it…
How I did it: drove down to san antonio, texas to see my school's football team compete in the alamo bowl. it was an 18 hour drive, and one of my friends drove the whole way! next time i do it, i'd want to switch off driving so that it feels more like a real road trip. Read how I did it…
How I did it: We rented a car, bought a gps and a camera and just drove! We didn't worry about where we were going to sleep - just rented motel rooms along the way. Read how I did it…

I know you can get all the stuff on line, but I like getting snail mail. Got a map from Oregon so far.

I have a little less than a year to save up for this. Some of the things are free… some will take a chunk of change.
1 – Rental car. We have cool trucks, but I am thinking a mustange convertable. I spend a LOT with Hertz for work… maybe we can get a deal.
2 – Picknic basket, complete with wine glasses (like we drink, ha, ha) and checkered table cloth. Probably have to put this together myself, but can start gathering the pieces now.
3 – GPS – do we really need one? Probably not if we get the car from Hertz with their “Never Lost” – but my man may want one anyway – he likes toys. Come to think of it, I like toys, too.
4 – Junk mail from towns along the way. I can send for them now, and even if we don’t go see everything, it’ll be fun emailing back and forth about what we might want to see.
5 – ice chest – got one, two, three in various sizes. Have to bungie the tops down, but that’s ok.
6 – big, old blanket to lay down on the ground in the forest and look up at the trees
7 – two person tent in case we deside to go camping… and, of course, sleeping bags, etc.
8 – cash for food, fun and gasoline
9 – lots of music, his and mine
I’m sure there’s more, but that’s a start…

So this will have to wait until sometime next year when he’s back in the states… but it will be something for us to email back and forth about and plan and thing on while we are apart. The planning will keep us entertained for now, but I hope we really actually do take this trip once my soldier is home.

Is it okay to plan a roadtrip? I know that they’re supposed to be spontaneous, but I really don’t know if I can just leave and not know where I’m gonna sleep, eat, stop for gas and stuff like that. It’s gonna drive me crazy. I’ve narrowed it down to a few destinations I’d like to try, like New York or South Carolina. But I’m not really sure of what I would do when I get there because I’ve hardly ever been out of Delaware!
We’ll see how it unfolds, I guess. I don’t want to go on a roadtrip until I’m eighteen [which is in two months, YAY], but I also can’t go until after the summer because I’m like a work-aholic from May to September.
I’m planning this out too much, aren’t I?
My friend matt and I plan to tkae a road trip over the summer to go to cali and tear up everything.
smazattack chillin.
So my friend asked me if I’d like to take a road trip to Arkansas to visit her grandma in June. Yeessss!! I’ve never been to Arkansas, I can’t imagine that there is much interesting there except for maybe the nature. However, I’d love to go! Road trip yay! Maybe we’ll go to Tennessee and I can go to Dollywood (!!!) that’d be great! Or see The Bell Witch area, that’s like Adams, Tennessee or something. Woo! Hopefully this happens :]
