Contrary to popular opinion, I don’t like convertibles. In summer I’m too hot and need the air conditioning in my car (especially when stuck in traffic amidst the fumes in the glaring sun), in the winter it’s pretty useless (although I had a colleague who’d ride her convertible in winter with a big scarf and furry hat…)
How to ride in a convertible with the top down
How I did it: My dad just bought a 1967 Chevy Impala Convertible, the body is white, the top is black, it has drum brakes and we got up to 110 around my town. I loved the feel of the wind in my hair and it just nailed home the fact that I want one of my own!
Lessons & tips: If your hair is long(as it gets quite tangled left completely loose, keep it back with a headband and clips. I still enjoyed the wind flowing through my hair but it didn't get into my eyes.
Resources: Headband, hair clips and asking to go for a ride.

many more times. I’m on my second convertible – first was a 1984 VW Rabbit Deluxe. Now I have a 2001 VW Cabrio, bright red with a black top. I absolutely love this car. There is nothing like popping the top and heading out on the open road for the day when the weather’s nice. Unfortunately there have not been very many nice days over the last few months so I haven’t been able to drop the top. Hurry up nice weather!

It was fire engine red with a black top! It was great as long as the weather was nice, but you didn’t want to be in it when it rained. No matter how we tightened the top, or put new weather stripping it leaked! But it was amazing to ride down the country highways on a beautiful day with the top down!
