I'm not crazy about this goal 7 months ago

Because I think my entries on my One Year and Five Year Plans are basically the things I’m working on on my list already. I think I’m going to mark this done. But I’ll write out my plans first:

One Year

Get that job
Buy an investment property
Have a baby (approximately one year)
Do one vocal performance
Submit book for publishing (I should really say, have book accepted for publishing)
Go to Hawaii
I think that’s enough for one year!

Five Years

Pitch Mr. Lau project (this should be within 3 years really, but if it takes 5, that’s fine.)
Have 2 kids (more?)

Good news! 8 months ago

I’ve completed my one year plan. Right now, I’m living in Palm Springs, Calif. and working for a much larger newspaper.

Now, to do the five year plan…I’m also including getting a dog and buying a house/condo

Five Years 12 months ago

This is just a general idea of where I hope I’ll be at in five years. It’s impossible to know what will happen between now and then.

IN FIVE YEARS I (HOPE I) WILL

...be married close to it
...have plans to start a family
...be a home owner
...have excellent credit
...be writing for a living OR back in school for a MLIS degree
...have a garden, and be growing some of my own food
...still be living in the Bay Area

One Year 12 months ago

The One Year part of the plan is easy. I can pretty much guess where I’ll be at in a year and I know what I’d like to accomplish in that time. Five is much harder, because it’s dependent on a lot of “what if” goals. Oh well, I suppose I can make that list based on what I hope will happen, and go from there. I can always change it.

IN ONE YEAR I WILL

...be mostly out of debt, and in the process of re-building my credit.
...have all legal-related annoyances behind me.
...have moved into a nicer place, or at least will be planning to do so, perhaps with a certain someone.
...be in fantastic physical shape.
...have a draft of novel finished.
...be at the same job, making more money.
...have a decent writing portfolio started.
...have the blog up and running with readers and everything!
...have rid myself of many possessions and clutter, keeping just the essentials.
...have stopped driving for the most part, and perhaps will be (happily) without a car.
