How to live abroad for at least 6 months
How I did it: I moved to Germany to teach English. It was really hard, as a Canadian to get a work permit (it's far easier for Americans).
There's also the DAAD program which can help pay for school and travel that I SHOULD have enrolled in.
I lived there for 2.5 years and learned a lot, about Germany, about Canada and about myself. Everyone should live abroad and countries should encourage shorter term immigration and emmigration so people get a chance to experience life outside their country's borders.
Lessons & tips: The internet makes it so much easier to keep in touch. Keep a blog, keep talking to your friends but don't be afraid to really absord the culture of your adopted country.
Resources: My yahoo account and very very expensive Oprah and Economist magazines
