The third time... 3 years ago

was not the charm. This was the roughest walk to date, due to debilitating blisters obtained on Day One. Not having gotten them before, I was surprised and angry with my feet! I muddled through though with my sister by my side. Few crowd scenes have been as moving at the Opening Ceremony at sunrise and the Closing Ceremony, surrounded by walkers, crew, family and friends, taking part in the Shoe Salute of Breast Cancer survivors (see the attached picture). Walking in the 3 Day is a little step to supporting a big change!

Speaking of support, you can help me top up my fundraising at http://www.the3day.org/Michigan06/janiceleach/

Finish fundraising for the Breast Cancer 3-Day (continued) 3 years ago

My fundraising total as of today is $1640.00! That’s a lot of money and I’m feeling very proud and excited. I have $560 to go to meet my goal.

The 3-Day Walk is demanding and exhilirating, but it’s a walk in the park compared to asking for money.

All the donations, big or small, add up to fighting Breast Cancer so it’s entirely worth it.

Want to help? Your much-appreciated donation can be made at:

    Thanks in advance!

This is the hardest part of the Breast Cancer 3-Day for me: asking for donations. I know the cause is completely worthy—that’s why I’m walking for the third time.

My total fundraising has reached $1490 of the $2200 I need to reach.

Plus you’ll get to see a 2004 post-walk picture of my sister (on the right) and me—not our most glamourous shot! But 60 miles is a long way!
(The page totals don’t reflect the money recently submitted to date.)

    Getting started... 3 years ago

    is the hardest part!

I have begun some of my preparations for the walk.

Last week I mailed out a batch of fundraising letters to family and another to friends. My first by-mail donation arrived today so that’s a great inspiration.

I still need to buy a new pair of excellent shoes. I’ll go to the store where I purchased my last good pair. They are experts at fitting shoes correctly.

And walking. Last night Jimbo accompanied me on a 4 mile loop. It was a great night for walking too. I must get into the habit (again) of doing some serious walking every day!

I’m preparing to walk in my 3rd Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk in August of 2006. Like the first two, I’ll be doing the walk in the company of my wonderful sister. More to follow!
