Sarah is torn as to whether to jump on the Twilight bandwagon or not?
Me, a girl I work with and two of the drivers had a game of Texas Hold ‘Em after work last night. Having watched it on TV made it easier to get to grips with when it was being taught to me. The only thing I’m not 100% sure about is how the whole betting thing with chips is done, mainly because I wasn’t paying attention. Other than that, it went pretty good and we intend on playing again soon and this time for money.
Oh, and did I mention that it ended with everyones chips piled up in front of me? ;) Poker is obviously my game!

‘No.’
‘Here, I’ll teach you.’
‘I’m drunk. I’ll forget by the morning.’
Frittering away my chances of learning. I watched it on TV last night (which I waffled about here) and I have some understanding one of one type of poker but I have so far to go…

I don’t really want to bet money, not that I have any to lose at the moment. I just feel that being able to play poker is something that I oughta know how to do.
I saw a Deadwood box set for sale with poker set and shot glasses and thought I better buy it and learn how to play…and watch Deadwood too.

Let’s look at how a round of betting goes:
You’re the first to act in a game with antes. There are two things you can do: check (pass the bet) or you can bet. Let’s say you bet.
The next player (the one sitting on your left) can do three things: she can call or see your bet, which means she matches it exactly; she can raise the bet; or she can give up on her hand and fold or “muck” it.
This continues from player to player going around to the left. If someone raises a bet you made, when it comes back to you, you have the same options as everyone else: call, raise, or fold. The round of betting is over when everyone simply calls the last bet and all the players (who haven’t folded) have put in the same amount of money. A round of betting can also be “checked around” – meaning everyone checks and there’s no money put in the pot that round.

My boyfriend taught me how to play poker.
I’m still a little iffy on the betting part though.

learned how to, because no one in my family really plays poker like that. I just want to learn how to play. Going to Vegas for my 21st birthday next year, and i’m definitely going to play the slot machines, but i wanna play at the table too, i kno how to play blackjack, but that’s about the extent of it.

Poker Night

So I have played twice now. I may not e the best, and I don’t play for money, but I’ve won a few hands. So what if I have a cheat sheet that lists the hands. I still know the basics. So this task is done!

I’ve got a plan, I’m gonna have a poker night with the boys. Now how much cooler does having a few too many beers and learning how to play poker with boys can it get?
