Years ago I lost my job and found myself charging everything I needed. I maxed out all my credit cards. I finally payed them all off a few years ago but my credit is still destroyed. I would like to find strategies to help me build it back up again.

When I lost my job a few months ago, I said goodbye to good credit. I had used all my savings, what little I had, when I had surgery earlier this year. One thing that recently saved me was having payment protection plans on my credit cards. Because I was paying an extra $2 or $3 a month, I don’t have to worry about my monthly payments until I get another job. I only wish I would have taken that option for my car. I filed for unemployment over a month ago and they lost my information so now I have to wait another month before I even know if I’m going to be approved. I hope I still have a car…
I would suggest payment protection plan to anyone with a store or credit card… car for that matter. It will help you stay current should anything happen. With this economy, it’s better safe than sorry.

Oh…...
Just finished the audio book. Debt Cures by Kevin Trudeau. It has pushed me to take action. I got 2 of my 3 credit reports so far and just applied for a secured credit card. need to bring my score up. I know it will take time, but I am focused and want to get this right.

I have 2 secured credit cards. I initially applied for one, but in some sort of snafu ended up with 2. Unfortunately it is reported to the bureau as a secured card vs. a credit card. Which was upsetting and I asked them this and they told me it would say credit card, not secured . . . but after some time they will re-evaluate my account and possibly change it to a full on credit card. In any case, I have one w/ a 300 dollar limit and another 2/ a 500 dollar limit. The 500 dollar limit is a partially secured card (annual fee – 50, funded – 99). The 300 dollar fully secured card has a 35 dollar annual fee.
Anyway, it helps. I keep it paid off so that I don’t have to pay any fees and interest.
Keep it up out there. WE can pull this off together!

653! Opened a secured credit card, and somehow also managed to open up another card. Thought I was declined and this was the alternative one (secured), but I guess not. I don’t know. Either way, I don’t want to close it now, because that is not really worthwhile. The secured can change to a regular one over time (6 months) depending on how I am handling my credit. So I have put one bill on it for 35 bucks a month, and I don’t really intend to use it for much more. Maybe a car rental here and there.
So again, looking good. Plus, some things are falling off of my report over the course of the year, so I am expecting small increases over time.
paying off all 400.00 of my debt next week..I got a bill from the hospital and at first this upset me because although I needed the help at the time..a walloping bill of 2000 doesn’t help at all..and would be detrimental to my plans of getting my score up at least 200points in the next 2yrs.I’m going to make lemonade w/ this lemon by setting up payments that will hopefully be reported to the bureau monthly….

So I finished paying off the old CitiBank Plus checking account. I had to wait 30 days for them to send me a letter and for them to report it to the credit bureau. So I called to get the letter sent, and it arrived yesterday. Now they are saying they will report it to the 3 credit agencies, but it will probably be at the end of the month.
So yet again I feel like they are jerking my chain and letting this detrimental stuff sit on my account as a negative when it really is resolved. Man this is such a scam. It is perfect for their business, but so awfully wrong for the everyday person.

I will be calling tomorrow to have them send my letter and to remind them to update the credit agencies.
Let’s see if this will help increase my FICO score. I hope so.
