I’d like to make a prayer book to record my prayers/answers to prayers and how God is working in my life. I’d also like to have pre-printed prayers in my book to pray over specific circumstances. I’m told we are to pray the Word over situations. Does anyone have suggestions?

last night, while waiting for my girl to finish play practice. A beautiful green journal, just big enough that I can fit my spawling writing in it.
I’m surprised by how much I like to write. It has to be good for your soul to have a book like this, one for private prayers. I’ve been told God wants to know the truth about everything we feel. The truth is today I want him to avenge my difficulties for me. It felt good just to be able to say that directly to him. I can also write about what I’m worried about and ask for help.
What a good idea!

by literally buying a book to record prayers in, but in the meantime….the little old lady with whom I shared my semi-private hospital room is in my prayers….and her family, who seemed very nice….and Dr. Flowers, who was so warm and kind to me….and my fellow workers, who helped so much.

from my 2nd class at the Lutheran church. I am set to join the church next Sunday. I’m much blessed by this major development.

Yesterday I bought a $12 leather journal with high quality paper at Walmart. It has a ribbon bookmark and a snap enclosure that I thought would go well for a prayer book. Although I still have to figure out what to go inside of it as that won’t be touched with a pen until I know exactly what it is going to contain.

I found a copy of the 1662 Anglican Book of Common Prayer online which included a month Psalter which was easy to modify from a 30/31 day cycle to a 28 day one. Originally Psalm 119 was divided up into 5 different readings which I merged into one as I don’t like the idea of splitting up a Psalm which worked out to a perfect 28 days worth of morning and evening Psalter readings. For the noon Gospel readings I used Reading Planner a free Bible reading planner to divide the Gospels into 28 readings of a close to similar length. Now I just need to figure out any system of Invitatory prayers that I might want to add around them and then I’m down the the aspect of getting it into book format.
Also if anyone wants a copy of the Scripture readings let me know and I’ll get them to you.

I just got some inspiration from the Irish Celtic monks of old that I was just reading about. They used the Psalter for their private devotions which they had memorized, all 150 of them and gathered together for the reading of the Gospels. So in their example I’ll create my prayer book so it takes me through both the Psalter and the Gospels each month and to make things simple I’ll go by a 4 week cycle so each “month” is always the same length. Now I just need to figure out how to divide it up and then the hard part of the planning stage will be finished.
