I may actually buy a bat house and put it up, rather than build one. http://www.batroost.com/bathousesandfreebathouseplans.aspx has assembled bat houses for $45, unassembled for $40, so it makes sense for me just to buy one and put it up.

I have so much else I need to concentrate on. I hate to give this up, but I must.

but I REALLY like bats!! My parents have tons of them and it is kind of exciting and unnerving to be sitting outside with an evening martini and have them swoop by. I think bats are amazing with their ability to fly the way they do without colliding into anything. I’d never actually seen a bat out our way, but last night, one zipped by my head while I was out on my porch. Thrilling and the four year old about had a cow when I told him about it.

ive decided that i will no longer give free blood donations to mosquitoes this year and therefore must build a bat house. from what ive read they should be placed high up. so i think i am going to attach mine to the telephone pole by my house. i am counting on the city not to care but i may be to optimistic. we’ll see what happens.

They eat bugs. It’s like environmentally friendly and stuff.
