lob counting down to my son's play production...
from Flagstaff to Williams this morning, I asked my sons in the car if they’d ever heard of Route 66 (which I pronounced R-out 66). My 8-year old son answered quickly, “No. I’ve never heard of R-out 66, but I have heard of R-oot 66.” Of course, I told him it was my mispronounciation and would forever call it R-oot 66, since he knew better than I did.

Unfortunately I was so sleepy I didn’t really appreciate it.

Since I have lived in Germany it is amazing how many people have told me that they want to do this. A few people have even said that they wanted to take a motorcycle on the trip.

I was on route 66 in Arizona and New Mexico. I would like to make another trip to drive on more of it. The best part are the little towns you go through and especially the restaurants. If you are ever travelling, eat locally!

About six years ago I got to drive on Central Avenue in Albuquerque that was once part of Route 66. It felt pretty amazing to be driving on such a piece of Americana.
I’ve read the books, watched the TV shows, and I’d love to explore it further. But for now, the four miles or so I drove on it through New Mexico will have to suffice.
