I've given to everyone else but me for way too long. 6 months ago

I cannot do this anylonger. I’ve given to others, their agendas, their to do lists, their needs and it’s been somewhat rewarding in the sense of contribution and involvement; however, I never give to me. I never do for me. I always have put others first and parked me on the back seat, saying ” I can do my thing later, let me help with this first.” I just cannot do it anylonger. I’m suffering. I’ve a strong, healthy person who is mentally, emotionally and physically drained by the long, drawn out reorganization that is going on here. I work hard, and know it, but don’t give my own self credit where credit is due.

I’m seeking ways, support, guidance and clear headedness on how to STOP taking everyone else’s needs as top priority. I’ve done this for 15 years, and it’s GOT to STOP. No MORE! Anyone feel the same way!

I have two quotes on the bulletin board in my office:

“In the end, everything is a gag.” – Charlie Chaplin

“If there are questions the, of course, there are answers, but the final answer makes the questions seem absurd.” – John Cage

It’s so easy to get caught up in the drama of the day, but so unneccessarily draining. As Jimmy Buffett said, “We’re just players in a game and no one’s keeping score.”

Need to laugh more, worry less, complain little, revel in the gift of every moment – no matter how painful or absurd it appears to be.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun 2 years ago

I have fun at my PT job and share this philosophy with all the young people I work with. However, sometimes I find it very hard with all the stresses of being a single parent and trying to make ends meet. I keep telling myself that life is too short and we shouldn’t take ourselves so seriously.
