"Worth is for the ovbious reason, you will have money when you really need it...not for that self gratification!"

How I did it: Whenever I was bored the first think I would think to do to save me of boredom was to go shopping, terrbile idea.  before I knew it I was had a slight debt on my credit card and had no money in my bank account.  I am a college student, I can not afford to go out shopping all the time (Mom and Dad don't giv eme money) so I had to learn to just stop buying on the impluse.
I ask myself before adventuring anywhere, do I really need to go there, or do I really need this? The answer is usually no.  Just because you want it doens't mean you need it.
To stop myself form making purchases I simply didn't bring any credit cards or money with me when I went out.  I usually brought about $5 in case I had to stop to get soemthing to eat, but that was it.
You need to realize what is important to pay for, things like bills...things that you need to do, shopping is not one of those needs.

How I did it: I set a goal, a reason  to save. First  I just wanted a cat, so I saved a couple hundred dollars, then I decided I wanted skis, so I saved 1000 dollars. Recently I decided I wanted to move across the country, so I am saving for that. I put all the little extras in the savings, plus as much as I could each month, this way I didn't feel bad if I took a little out for something special.     I’m just starting this. I had a great job, made a lot of money then quit and traveled for a couple years. I had some great times and learned a lot of things, but nothing as important as appreciating what you have and not throwing it all away for ANYTHING! It is a lot harder to make money then to spend it… never more true than in these trying times! Not going to be easy, but I WILL BE BACK ON TOP.

    If it is one thing I have learned during my unemployment, it is that saving money is very important (duh, right?). It is a huge goal of mine to be self-sufficient as soon as possible.

    I finally got a job! I don’t have to move out of my apartment, and this is not a restaurant job! So it is something new! New is good.

    I am going to have to work extra hard to save up the money I have spent over the last two months. I also have to pay my mom back.

    I want to learn how to be fiscally responsible, so I can take care of myself in the future. The way the economy is now, it is important I learn to save.

    I bought myself a piggy bank and called him Wilbur! 8 months ago

    I have always been rubbish with money, still not great I must admit! So I decided that I needed to start saving money, in a sense in relation with my goal of having a place of my own. In all honesty, I am well aware that a piggy bank is never going to buy me a house! lol But my goal was to learn to save and enjoy it!

    Which I did! I love it!

    I ahve a piggy bank full of pound coins and the best bit is that I have no idea of how much I have in there! It excites me! However pitiful that may sound! lol

    I have learnt to go without some things that I bought for the sake of buying because I never used them. I ask myself; Do I really want it? Do I really need this? Often the answer is no, which means that everytime I answer no…. a few more pounds go into my piggy bank ‘Wilbur’!

    Maybe the lessons that Im learning with him will help my goal of my own house happen sooner that I think!

    I can dream! lol
