start a knitting group

I’ve been living in Rochester, NY the past few weeks for one of my clinical rotations. I used to know an abundance of people here, but they’ve all graduated and moved away! Refusing to be lonely, I searched out a knitting group. I found a group of gals who are ridiculously friendly and welcoming. I want a group like this in my own city someday!!!

I ve managed to arrange the first meet in a coffee shop today. Two turned up and want to meet again. Im the “boss” apparently, don’t know whether I can cope with the responsibility. Aaargghh..
So glad i started this, its really life-affirming! Hope i can keep it going and more join.

Well, I signed up on another website, but the cost of advertising on that site is a MAJOR deterrent. I would just like to get together with people who like to knit. I think this would be a good way to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.

I posted a message on a local forum and I have received lots of interest from it since after the new year.
I need to organise an emailing group and a first meeting soon. Im quite excited and a little scared – but mostly excited.

I’ve just stumbled upon the most fabulous website that apparently everyone else knew about before me. :)

I’ve put out the feelers a little bit… a few people have posted that they are knitters trapped in Buffalo. I hope something materializes! I’ve missed social knitting.

I am starting one in my school. I am starting with the faculty and then may extend it to students as well.

Well, this afternoon was our second meeting. Hopefully people will continue coming to these. I’m going to go advertise some more right now and hopefully more people will start coming. But the groups have been started! Woot!

Our first meeting went …um…only one person showed (weather, etc.) and tomorrow is a second. There were so many replies that we needed to split into two groups. Hopefully more people will show up for this one. I HOPE!! Alright, so after another week or two of meetings (if they are successful) I’ll mark this as done.

I put up an ad on Craigslist for my area and am waiting for replies. WooHoo! I took a first step!
