PasadenaSueThis resolution is closed!

While the end result wasn’t what I had thought it would be, I went to the game and enjoyed being with other Husker fans. (Next time I make a resolution, I will include the end result I want as well.)

It was a good day. The memories will get better as time goes on. I will forget how hot it was and focus more on how nice people were. And the Rose Bowl is pretty regardless of how your team is playing. I learned that I can bring in drinks that haven’t been opened (drinks are a ridiculous $5!!), and I have my special parking spot. And if the general admission area is full you can get an inexpensive ticket in another area.

Next week is a home game for Nebraska. I have my ticket. I just need to book my flight. Right now my record is 1-3 for watching Husker games in person. I am hoping I can improve upon the record. :) 9 months ago

PasadenaSueMore memories of the day.

There were plenty of fans wearing red at the Rose Bowl. Before the game I took some pictures of all the happy fans. In some ways the best part of any football game is the anticipation by the fans on each side that their team will win. Most fans are happy and good natured, which makes the game a great experience for everyone. While we were waiting to go into the Rose Bowl, this one UCLA fan was surrounded by Nebraska fans. I commented on that and she was happy to have her photo taken.

The Rose Bowl staff and CSC employees were all very nice. I extend my thanks to them for dealing with the heat and the crowds in a professional and polite way. I am sure that they are used to it however it is nice to see people who are enjoying their jobs when dealing with the public. 9 months ago

PasadenaSueI went!

This morning I had a doctor appointment and when I got home it was hot – like 100 degrees hot! So I had to psych myself up to go to the Rose Bowl. However I reminded myself that this was something I had been looking forward to for a few years, and hot or not I was going to go and have fun.

So I scootered down and parked in my parking spot above the Rose Bowl and walked down to buy a general admission ticket. They were sold out! But for the same price ($40) I got an assigned seat. It was right below the general admission area, and I had a backrest. I was very happy with the seat.

I walked around talking to people waiting for the game to start. It was hot so I stayed in the shade and just chatted. I met the husker Elvises (Elvi??) two brothers who dress up in Husker Elvis outfits and attend games. Their third brother didn’t attend this game. They were very charming and also staying in the shade because of the heat. http://huskerelvis.net/

The game, well let’s just say that Nebraska often beats themselves and this game was kind of like that. I think playing on a grass field caused some problems because the defense missed too many tackles. I enjoy watching the game and cheering, but I also enjoy interacting with the fans. And they were fun today. So I declare the game a success.

It was a good day. I love the Rose Bowl, the location, the skeleton exterior, the crowds, the feeling of the place. And seeing it half filled with red was awesome.

I’ll mark this goal complete after I write a bit more about the day. I am certain that other football fans have similar experiences when attending games. It’s so much more than just what happens on the field. It’s the hot dogs I buy afterwards, and the people and the stories they tell me. And it’s seeing the happy faces before the game – everyones’ expectations are possible. And it’s the feeling of the stadium when the fans are cheering.

Good game UCLA. And thank you for another good memory Husker fans! 9 months ago

StephenGot the tickets!

I found tickets advertised on Craigslist and picked them up last night in Glendale. The excitement is really building now as I will head to Lot H and join the other Husker fans that will be tailgating there before the game. The game will be the featured match-up on Fox tonight, so I’ll record it as well in case I want to check out some of the plays later on. Today is going to be GREAT! 9 months ago

I had been planning on going to this game since last Spring but didn’t buy the tickets in advance. Now since the game is tomorrow, I have been checking online to see what tickets are going for. UCLA doubled the ticket prices (compared to other games) so I guess Nebraska sounds like a big ticket opponent. I probably will be paying $60 for a ticket that isn’t in the end zone which is what I prefer.

Pasadena Sue never did get back to me. I guess I am just not charming enough for her, but I did find another friend who wants to go with me and Orion, so looks like there will be 3 of us at the game. 9 months ago

PasadenaSueThe game is this Saturday!

And I haven’t bought my ticket yet. At this point I will just wait for general admission tickets at the Rose Bowl. Time to get my Red out and decide what I am going to wear to the game.

I did buy a ticket for a home game later in the month. I need to buy my plane tickets and arrange for time off of work. Memorial Stadium is an AWESOME place to watch the Huskers play!!! 9 months ago

PasadenaSueTickets are on sale.

I think I should buy my tickets from Nebraska rather than UCLA so I can sit with the Nebraska crowd. It doesn’t matter in some ways because we all end up in the north end of the stadium. It’s a long way off but I know I will enjoy the game. 14 months ago

PasadenaSueIt is on my calendar - September 8, 2012

at the Rose Bowl!!! I am gathering a group of friends to attend. This should be fun.

I don’t know when tickets go on sale. I should buy them from Nebraska, however I can also sit in the end zone with the UCLA fans and proudly wear red.

Something to look forward to as the year progresses. 17 months ago
