I’ve had a passion for law since I was in high school…I can remember being 12 years old in Year 7 and attempting to read a book on torts and civil law that was bigger than my head.
I originally wanted to do a Bachelor of Arts that had a double major of Criminology and Criminal Justice, but they were at two separate campuses that involved 2 trains and 2.5 hours of travelling each way, so that was out.
My second choice was a Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at a campus that’s 2 hours up the freeway…my mother looked me right in the eye and said “There’s nothing more that I’d love than to give you your independence, but I never want you to move out.” True story, folks. Not standing up for myself then is one of the things I really do regret in life and I feel terrible for letting her speak to me that way.
So I’ve decided to do a Bachelor of Criminology/Law from a New South Wales university (I live in Victoria right now). I’ve made a decision to do it after my Literature course, and to do the Criminology/Law course I’m going to give myself two options: move out of home and do it by correspondence, or move to Sydney and do it on campus. I’m not going to let her hold me back this time – if I have to scream the house down to get her to listen to me, then I will. 19 months ago
