Spanish Goals 9 months ago

I want to be able to speak Spanish fluently by the time I graduate college. I want to be able to go somewhere, where there are Spanish speakers and be able to have a full on conversation with them. I want to be able to translate for people that need the help.

I am so shy! 20 months ago

I mean, I lived in Spain, I have taken several Spanish classes, and still my spanish is crappy. When I meet spanish speaking people I completly clam up and can’t speak. Sucks.

I'm not good enough to help with spelling though 20 months ago

Yes, I’m willing to help, but only with offering links. Learning to speak better Spanish is one thing. Learning to type it into print is another. Spelling it seems harder but you can actually learn more this way, especially if you are a right brained thinker. :) So, I found this site where you can join in real time conversations and it’s a two way win situation. The person or persons you are learning better Spanish from are also learning better English from you. Love this kind of help.

Another great site : http://www.lingolex.com/spanish.htm

Verbalising sentences :

Over 100 audios below link for pronuciation :

I also suggest you get signed up for the Spanish word of the day mail, especially if all you have is a few exra minutes a day

Of course, the best way to learn any language is through the help of friends who speak it. It’s not always possible with the many things we have to do each day. The other thing is that when it’s socialising time, the last thing anyone wants to do is teach.
Keep learning. It’s an ongoing process. I’ve been learning sign language since I was 15 years old and there’s still stuff I don’t know. I don’t even consider my Spanish to be intermediate but I know it will be a life long learning experience that I won’t regret. Neither will you. There are many other sites online and even downloads available to help. Just do a search in your browser. Thing is that most of them offer paid versions but you can learn pretty much even without those and then if and when you’re ready, you can make a purchase.
Adiós por el momento, ( Goodbye for now ),

Spanish is my first language 22 months ago

I speak spanish and I learned english as a second language. After living in Texas, sometimes when I talk to my family I tend to speak in English because I forget how to say the words in Spanish! YIKES…SPANGLISH….no way.

What I have been doing is reading…Spanish Literature…just to keep up and increase my spanish vocabulary. I also teach 2nd grade bilingual…so I really can’t set aside my Spanish!

Don't Deport Dora 2 years ago

It was so funny. My grand son loves Dora the Explorer. He actually has a girlfriend at 3 years old and a few days ago my friend’s husband was teasing him about having Dora deported because he says he’s tired of hearing about her and having to decipher the Spanish words he is using after watching her on a daily basis. He was so upset and screamed at him that his grand mom likes her too and so he cannot have her deported. What could he say to that? I think she’s a great influence on our youngsters and as far as my own studies are coming along… awesome! A bit more progress each day. This, of course, is an on going goal, as it is difficult to learn it all at once. I have found this link http://spanish-word-a-day.com/ to be very helpful in that, now I am not just learning to speak it but to read it also.

Too vague 2 years ago

This is too vague. I’m creating a new goal which is to study Spanish for 15 minutes everyday.

Spanish is really difficult, Espanol es muy dificil 3 years ago

I actually did this one. Note that the description is BETTER Spanish, not necesarily good. My Spanish is still not great, I can say quiet a few things in present tense and I can understand a bit if people speak really slow. I went to Argentina for 3 weeks and studied at a school called La Montana in Bariloche (http://www.lamontana.com/) note thier website doesn’t work in firefox. They were fantastic and I think I learnt a lot in my short time there. It was also real fun, they organize activities after school nearly every day. Hiking, Salsa, Bowling, whatever. It was cool. If anyone really wants to learn Spanish I would reccomend taking lessons fulltime in A Spanish country. I’d reccomend a latin American one where your expenses will be pretty low while you are there.
