TrueFreedomMe neither...
I had every intention of doing this! Well I ended up getting certified to lead a bible study and the material tends to go back and forth between the Old and New Testament, which I love but makes it difficult to remember what I’ve read and what I haven’t yet. So I want to revisit all the material from my certification class and I also want to follow more the daily Mass readings which I have found are a very convenient way to read the bible with an appreciation for the New and Old Testament. Good news is, if I follow them every day for three years, it will cover the whole Bible! They have a Cycle A,B, and C year and it’s kinda cool that everybody is meditating on the same readings. I often hear God speaking to me in a special way through these readings so I am going to make it more of a priority this year to follow them each day. May God give me this grace because I do want to have my bible study time be more consistent in general. Oh and another thing- I have these WONDERFUL c.d.s of the New Testament and I just can’t get enough of them! they make me feel like I am right there in the scene and I get so much out of actually hearing the Word of God spoken to me! I’ve listened to a lot of them but this year I want to hear the whole New Testament- again, I often skip around and then I don’t know which c.d.s I’ve heard! God bless all of you in your new goals! :)
Edit: I found out more about the daily readings, “The Acts of the Apostles is used as the first reading on the Sundays and weekdays during the Easter season. The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke are read semi-continuously on the Sundays of Ordinary Time on a three-year cycle, while passages from the Gospel of John are used mostly during the seasons of Lent and Easter and on several major feast days. Excerpts from all other NT books and letters are used as the second reading at Masses on Sundays and major feasts according to a three-year cycle, and/or weekday Masses on a two-year cycle.”
Much but not absolutely all of the Bible is covered (esp the Old Testament so I’ll still have to supplement my reading a bit in order to cover the whole bible. 4 months ago
