Applisync is an open source application synchronizer that can sync. all the linux desktop with the same version of woking software, menus etc. with the master machines and download neccessary software package from other linux PC that’s finished the sync. process.

Open source project 21 months ago

Well, I create an open source project called XRVG, to provide a drawing API for the Ruby language. It is for the moment in infancy, but I have already some fine results, and lots of things to add.

Found something 22 months ago

I’ve found something that is worth doing and seems possible. I am currently researching how to do it but unfortunately I don’t have much more than 30 minutes per day to spend on it, which makes it a slow process.

For a while I’ve been kicking around the idea of a “distributed repository of knowledge” where anyone can make an addition that references previous additions. Kind of like the web, except with no broken links and for a wider range of data. A structure like this could be the foundation for all sorts of useful things (package management systems are one example). I’ve just put up the first batch of code and documentation: http://dagnetproj.awardspace.com.

Open source project :The funnel project 2 years ago

Hi everybody

I constantly make conversions from raster files to vector files for logos and honestly Adobe Illustrator and Corel Draw are ok but too expensive and most people do not have the chance of either purchasing them or learning them.
My main goal is to simplify to the maximum the vectorization of logos and simple pictures with one click do it all application called “The Funnel Project”
This is what this application will do:

1.Convert any given file regardless of its size resolution or format to one grayscale predifined 600×600 600 dpi png file and increase its contarat and brightness in the same step by using the opensource application “imagemagick”.

2.Will convert this grayscale png to one vector file using the open source application “potrace”

The application will generate 10 png’s and will convert them all to vector in one step the difference between the ten will be the level of contrast and brightness so that one of the the black and white 10 vectors can be easily chosen according to the user’s preferences

Important point: THE UI

Everything simple and all drag and drop and, no menus just one button to switch between user and expert mode the only thing in the center of the screen will be a
classy funnel… you drag your original files to the top of the funnel &the
files “come down”: 10 of them appear at the bottom… and just one
button in the top center to switch to expert mode with all the classic
options (this is influenced by the iPhone) Obviously I want to make
this idea public and any recommendations on how to build an open
source project like this would be appreciated, I just do not know how
to explain this to the open source community and find some other
people to volunteer to build the UI…
Any ideas or feedback on this open source rant of mine?
I just “discovered” open source 1 month ago so you go figure…
The applications imagemagick and potrace already exist we just need to “glue them”

Help please I want to do this but I do not know how

Any feedback?

Develop PC tablet to aid children with communications difficulties 2 years ago

would anyone be interested in helping me develop a software
for a PC tablet to help children/people with communications problems.

these i are some of the things that need to get done;

1) software requirement gathering (so far):
PECS communication interface.
image capture
image pick board
ABA language development drills
receptive labels
expressive labels
sequencing letters numbers
Sound capture and replay
audio analysis to determine quality of vocalizations
RDI
simple games to build social skills
Splinter skills leveraging
Statistical analysis of activities inputs to determine potential
splinter skills
and motivators.
Fine Motor
various games to develop fine motor;
follow the shape/cartoon cartoon character.
dot-to-dot
tracing an outline with pen/finger
Report and progress generator
Statistical analysis package.

2) minimum hardware spec.
tablet with touch sensitive screen.
built in camera to instantly capture images to PECS “dictionary”.
Built-in speaker and microphone.
touch snesitive screen.
rugged.

3) hardware sourcing.
trying to see if i can get a subsidy from a major vendor/OEM.

4) starting an open source project and getting a sponsor.

anyone interested?

Project Created 2 years ago

For me, the hardest thing seems to be coming up with an idea that is worth working on. I can never seem to come up with anything that would hold my interest longer than putting together a quick prototype.

With the release of the latest Rails last weekend, however, I felt particularly inspired for a few marathon hacking sessions to explore the new framework additions and think I came up with an idea for a plugin with enough substance that it could make for an interesting project.

I quickly rushed off to RubyForge and registered a new project before I could talk myself out of it.

I have an idea for an OS project, I still haven’t decided anything about how I would do it, whether it would be multi-platform or targeted solely at either Windows or Linux, what language it would be in or how generic to make it.

I’ve decided before I start I’m going to read Producing Open Source Software: How to Run a Successful Free Software Project by Karl Fogel first.

CMS Made Simple 3 years ago

One of the most important “virtual” achievements in my life. Creating a program that 1000’s of people use to make their life easier and being thanked for it on a regular basis in a wonderful feeling. Granted, I’ve never met a single person in real life that uses this thing, I feel like I have friends all over the world now. Wait until I do my world tour and cash in all those beers that people have promised. :)

Granted, it’s hard work and requires attention EVERY SINGLE DAY. However, if you love what you do, it’s not really a problem.

If you do get pretty popular, you can probably make a business model out of your project. I’m still working on that aspect (slowly!), but it’s possible. It’s not my first concern, though. Making a cool program still ranks at #1.

Anyway, I’m not here for the URL plug. Google it if you’re interested.
