I decided I wanted to refresh and continue learning both French and Italian. I don’t know when I’ll get the opportunity to go back to France or Italy, but I figure it would be great brain exercise to keep these skills sharp.
Well learning French has been good so far with the class but I’m not getting very far on learning the Italian.
Well I’m a quarter Italian so I think it would be fun to learn Italian and then I’m taking French two next year. I know a little French but I have to brush up from 3 years ago when I learned the little bit I know. The French teacher told me I should be fine but I really have to learn alot befor school begins in the Fall. This makes me nervous. :/ After I learn French this summer I’m going to slowly teach myslef Italian.
There’s something sophisticated and romantic about these languages. And it also comes in handy if you’re an art history major.
The closest I get is the musical pronunciation class I took in college, spring quarter, senior year. I slept through most of it or sat through it drunk or hungover. All the other people in it were freshmen and sophomores, taking it for their music majors and I was taking it b/c it was easy as well as interesting. I certainly got an A for class participation, looking around me at all the “kids” furiously taking notes as I absorbed what I thought was fascinating stuff (I’m a true student of English and languages) and then actually answering the professor’s (what was his name?) questions. I made an impression on that professor, he came up to me and congratulated me at graduation. Then he gave me a B+ in the class. Jerk.
