New IsabellaMini-challenge goal...

I want to work on this for at least 1/2 hour, starting now…

If not, I’ll have to invite someone to dinner tomorrow!

UPDATE: I completed my mini-challenge, and as a reward I made some dinner and ate it. Yay! :) 2 years ago

New IsabellaMy kitchen table is like an archealogical dig...

I made some good progress yesterday, and got down to the bottom layers. Tonight, I realize that they date from the time I returned from my trip in early September. I had to take a briefcase of papers with me on that trip, and when I returned, I “unpacked” the briefcase onto the kitchen table. That was a mistake.

I have not made much progress today, but at least I put away all the new mail and papers that came in today. I think the trick is to keep on putting away the new stuff every day, and also to keep working at the old stuff, a little each day. I read a tip in a book that said to take 10 papers and put them away each time you come into the room. I wonder if that would work for me. Maybe I’ll try it. 3 years ago

New IsabellaDeja vu all over again...

My sink is shining, and that’s good.

But my kitchen table is cluttered with piles of papers, just like it was 14 months ago. And that’s not so good.

It really helped with this goal when I had someone staying at my house. It gave me the motivation I needed to keep the kitchen table cleared. Is there anything short of having someone else move in that can motivate me to clear off my kitchen table and keep it cleared? 3 years ago

sierrakI'm Disappointed, I Didn't Get this done this weekend

I did get it started, but the weather was so gorgeous that we played some tennis and did things outside. Soon it will be snowing and we will have plenty of time for indoor cleaning.

As I said, I got started on this, and maybe dealt with one-third of the the stuff that had piled up there. And I think that only took 30 minutes. Just need to commit a couple hours to finish it up! 4 years ago

sierrakAnother One of Those Hot Spots for Clutter

Just writing down my intention to tackle this will help get me focussed on completion! Our kitchen table is not too bad but the clutter needs to be sorted, filed, and dealt with. Should only take a couple hours to actually deal with at all, as opposed to just moving it somewhere else (which is what I would do in a real pinch!) 4 years ago

New IsabellaWow, it feels good...

...to actually SEE the surfaces of the kitchen table AND the entire counter-top tonight.

My friend told me it looked beautiful. It does. :) 4 years ago

New IsabellaAnd clear the counter-top, too....

I think I’m going to make this a challenge goal. Before the end of September, I’m going to challenge myself to get all the papers on the kitchen counter and the kitchen table either thrown away or put away in file folders.

Knowing that my houseguest will be back again tomorrow and will be trying to use the kitchen is motivating me to get this done NOW! 4 years ago

Jeff ClineWhoa! I now have a place to put my plate!

Got the papers cleared off the kitchen table (or at least sorted to the side). Now let’s try to keep it that way. 7 years ago
